  1. depends how good your position is in relation to the birds coming in. If there coming straight at me then i,m 75% but if there coming in from every which way then it around 33%. Overall though i dont moan if i hit 1 in 3, its having the enjoyment that counts, if you start worrying that your doing crap then you will get worse so just enjoy it.
  2. hehe i got fed up with the sinking ducks so i though I'd have a stroll with the .223 to see if i could nab a fox that's been bothering the sheep. Seems i didn't get that right either but nailed this fella from a flock of around 40 that have been persistently damaging crops on my permission. Anyway the whole flock landed in the next field to me , they couldn't have been in a better position so i duly air mailed one a .223 40gr round at 153 yards . Not exactly sporting but when chances are handed on a plate you cant say no sometimes. At least this bugger didn't sink and it'll do great
  3. lol suicidal ducks. Could be a new line for al qaeda to follow
  4. the gun patterns very tight with 3inch steel 4,s so normmaly its either a clean hit of total miss. Most of the time their dead as doornails but you do get the odd runners same as when shooting pigeons. Its just that when they come down in water 30% just sink ? I,d have thought that if they wernt clean kills and they were diving the buggers would be coming back up for air but this isnt the case.
  5. Is it just me or do your ducks sink real fast after you have shot them ? I found myself only shooting over hard ground so i dont loose any
  6. not long now peeps I've got all my gear scrubbed down and in tip-top condition ready for the early mornings start but no doubt I'll end up leaving a vital bit of kit at home even though i been planning it for weeks now
  7. I've got a gen 2+ scope and a triple cascade gen 1 monocular (3 gen 1 tubes back to back) but i much prefer to use the lamp as is easier. I would recommend you go out with someone who has a nv unit and have a play with it as all gen1 stuff is pants unless you have a huge infra-red illuminator then you might as well just carry the lamp as target acquisition is far faster
  8. same as above you will only notice the differacne if listening from further away. I find the sandard 2 1/2 eley carts very quiet but they dont hit quite as hard but if yours is the same as mine (full choke) your only getting overkill on rabbits ising the 3's
  9. well done, thats a real nice bit of wood
  10. totally agree with you on that one. Any fox killed regardless of age is a job well done in my book, keep up the good work :clapping:
  11. It was Teignmouth in Devon. The crab was fantastic on sandwiches but most was eaten that night with a drop of vinegar and pepper. And I'll have you know if i breathe in enough and stretch tall you can just make out my ribs
  12. couldnt fit this the main post but here's a pic of my rib
  13. just been away for a weeks break with the family and managed to pull a couple of drive in and loads of watersports without the missus going nutts . Overall tally on the two dives was 24scallops and two crabs (only one in the pics as the other one was typical supermarket size and nowt to write home about). This big fella was out for a little stroll giving it large thinking nowt could touch him and totally forgot the golden rule "there's allways a bigger fish" . after a quick battle he swiftly ended up in my goodie bag ready for the pot . Was really very lucky as if it was any bigger he w
  14. cant comment on the 12g husher apart from its like a drain pipe but I've got a .410 pedreti and its an absolute killer and a lot shorter than the Baikal version. Ive taken pigeons, rabbits, hare's out to 30 paces and even a fox (@ 3 foot) with it. Its an total gem that i would never be without. The 3"subsonics are not much quieter than the standard 3"carts unless your listening from 30 yards away then they come into there own, but it you use eley fourlongs they are whisper quiet and good for 25 paces anyway and not to mention cheaper .
  15. i,ve thought about this before and if i was wanting highseat setup i would be going for a telescopic ladder that could be removed from the site everytime and make a sitty platform in the tree from pallets. The telescopic ladders are 1/2 the price of a puka high chair setup and only weigh 18lbs and extend to 3.8 meters. Also very portable. My window cleaner switched to one of these a couple of years back and he swears by it.
  16. when re-filling my cartridge belt the other day i pulled this one out a brand new box I,m surprised it made it through QC and i,m also glad i found it when filling my belt as it could have been a different story if i was loading the shotgun straight from the box as i do when pigeon shooting. I,d be very embarrassed if i was an eley salesman and someone pulled this one out. Has anyone else had this before ?
  17. my monocular is good enough for use without an infra red light source as its basically 3 gen 1 tubes back to back giving it huge light amplification and a very wide field of view. I have tried other gen 1 stuff but to be honest i would waste your money on them as there really crap and you will only be able to see as far as the distance of the infra red light. The lamps supplied are poor at best one would only give you 40yard vision max but it does reflect off eyes at far greater distances like a normal torch does, but you still need to id what your shooting at anyway so it makes little differe
  18. theres a firm near me that makes them to your spec, i bought a 6 gun with top shelf fully painted for £96 cash. If you want there number let me know and i,ll try and find it.
  19. I've got a big ex-military gen+ scope and a triple cascade gen 1+ monocular. And you ask what i use? The fancy bit of kit i use is called a lamp Don't get me wrong the NV kit is outstanding but its a bugger to judge distance and the modern stuff need loads of infra red light throwing into the field to become usable. If your totally static shooting then that's fine but believe me you will more time looking through the scope and getting now where as they ain't that practical and comfy. The best method Ive found is to use a NV monocular with a wide field of view to spot targets and break down

A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl. Although his English was far from perfect, they got along very well until one day he rushed into a lawyer's office and asked him if he could arrange a divorce for him. The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions: Have you any grounds Yes, an acre and half and nice little home. No, I mean what is the foundation of this case? It made of concrete. I don't think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge? No, we have carport, and not
  21. Well ? the suspense is killing me did you managed to get an ezpull in the end or have you changed your rifle ?
  22. ok I'm just about to post my application form to apply for a fac ticket, i currently have a shotgun cert and have filled out another form to have them both running at the same time. On one of the forms it say i must surrender by shotgun cert with the application so i can be issued with a new one. How can i do this and still legally shoot on land which i have permission as i wont have the cert on my person ? Also how long does it normally take to get your fac through ?
  23. pop down B&Q, they have a small safe thats suitable for small arms ammunition for £15. The feo have no problem with there use.
  24. sounds good to me its all about experimenting and plenty of
