  1. So, how ~ in your opinion ~ does " Restrepo " compare to " Generation Kill " ? Just curious because I've watched the latter a few times. Never heard of Restrepo before. Wow!!! I'm not asking ~ in case you somehow start struggling to Explain to me ~ how your mind works. First, after six pages plus of people enjoyably exchanging views, You Tell us the Facts. Then, when I simply ask your personal view of two comparative bits of cinematography? You're off into one about old men masturbating on the sofa while going through magazines?! Don't you think you'd be bett
  2. Did they come in a tin, Matt? Come on! I've made the pass .....
  3. Whooah! How about Your best war film, ever ...? I'm probably to blame for sending this thread off at a tangent myself, with the war films angle Oh well. It'd probably run its course. 4. I was helping my neighbour with a load of log splitting, last year. I was lurking about with the axe. He was operating the tractor run, 'pneumatic / hydraulic' (?) log splitter he'd hired. I must say, it was impressive, seeing this thing slice through f**king great trunk logs like butter. But, when It snapped, I was still swinging that axe like Eugene. Swings and roundabouts ....?
  5. Cheeky f**ker! No; I was trying to remember / work out the one where we both put £20.00 in a box. Then ..... I finally remembered it: Then, I sell you the box for £30.00, so you're a tenner up! Try that, even on someone who's stone cold sober. Watch their face. See the passing shadow of the cloud of greed behind their eyes!
  6. Sorry! Come and See would have been better saved for a thread about War films. But, f**k it. You've got me talking about war films now anyway. Come And See ..... I always advise people to keep reminding themselves that this is a fifteen year old boy. It is at the start and it still is at the end. Don't you find, where ever war films are discussed, that one's the hot favourite? And " Brothers In Arms " comes out high too! F**king rounds whizzing around in that are scary realistic!
  7. Ooh! I can see you and I seeing eye to eye here! You like a bit of realistic history of that time too, eh? Das Boot then is de rigour, obviously. Just because it's war and it's f**king excellent! But, what about the BBC production; " Auschwitz: The Nazis and 'The Final Solution' " ? F**king Superb! Not exactly sure we'd be cheering the same side there ( ) But, the quality of production is simply f**king stunning. And the guy playing Hoess is an absolute dead f**king ringer for my mate!
  8. Actually, I plain forgot my other shelf! See, I have a shelf of 'films'. Then, I have my shelf of War films and documentaries, plus my various Boxed Sets Schindler? Ryan? Naturally! How about you, Scotty? In that department; Have you got ..... Come And See ?! Just kee ..... No. I think I'll save discussion of That one for the other thread!
  9. Yes! Yes!!! Works every f**king time! Get people in touch with their inner dictionary. About this time of night. Couple of drinkies. They start to turn into absolute f**king savages! Let me Feel that vitriol!
  10. Alright. F**k you, Scotty; I've ordered it! I just Love a good film! And, actually; That one struck a chord with me because I was also surprised (Bloody surprised!) to see it listed on the thread I based this one on. We can do that one later. It's about a set category of film ~ one I like a bit of ~ and I'll be fascinated to see what you people come up with Few jars down the neck and I hit Amazon harder than a woman can a shoe shop!
  11. Oh. That one's rather onomatopoeic, isn't it?
  12. " They seem to like the red berries on the little tree. " ?! Did you not realise that red berries on trees are a Waxwing Magnet? They'll probably be in that tree now till they've eaten every one of them. But, never mind that. What Is 'The little tree'? Do you know? Can you find out, please? I want one!
  13. That's that settled. I've just been on Amazon and have ordered Shawshank and Gump. They must be some f**king films! Especially that SR.
  14. Go on any forum, any where. Ask, " What is your favourite film? " and a noticeable number of people will say 'Shawshank Redemption'. And, should you simply ask, " What is Your most hated word in the english language? " A noticeable level of people will say, " Moist ! " Some people go absolutely f**king rabid about that word! So much so that I'll sometimes intone it, suggestively, round acquaintances. Just to see if the hair on the back of their neck rises Right. That's it. I'm f**king crying with uncontrollable laughter now"! What single, mundane, every day word just f**k
  15. Yes, but I've learned a lot from threads like this before Led me to seeing some cracking films. And this thread's already throwing up some 'Givens'. Shawshank, as you say. Forrest Gump is another which I'm noticing often enough to think I'd better hurry up and see these, before I die. When this has levelled out, I might start another one and see where we go with that one. I have the genre in mind. Seen it else where. Thrown up some superb choices and given me a lot of pleasure
  16. I think my most enduring (and endearing!) memory of " Snatch " is the SBT. When he eats the toy, in the car. Then, that bit where he Simply Must Bite Everybody in the Room! I'm almost crying just thinking about it! Love to see it again, for that. Not sure about the rest of it. Is that the one with Brad Pitt playing an Irish Traveller? Or have I got completely confused now? But, yes, that dog alone does it for me. There's always one
  17. That's the one! F**king murder, isn't it? Especially when you wake up just in time to see this disembodied arm going down like a felled tree. Smack! And she gets it!
  18. Five films you could always watch again ..... I'd planned to whittle away some time watching a film I'd downloaded, tonight / this morning. It was shit though. I couldn't take any more so turned it off. Now, I'm wondering what I might re watch, from my small (just pushing four foot) but ever growing collection of DVDs. I realised there's at least five films in there I'll always watch again In no particular order, they are: Rise of the Foot Soldier. The Kingdom. Leon. The Green Mile. Taken. Yes. There's other films I've seen, maybe on hire, and don't
  19. And where have You sprung from? This is getting hilarious! More staged than a hunt sab's masked ball! I was simply indicating that the ones wots it was looking at seemed very low priced. I try to kid myself we might still, now and then, get what we pay for. (Though to be honest, only the other day I was raging to myself that no amount of cash spent seems able to buy quality , these days) Implicit suggestion that there might be better quality kit out there. At a price? In fact, I was even considering asking Mr Personality there if he'd like me to check out the fifty quid ones. See ho
  20. Er ... Please don't bother to remind me never to consider trying to offer you any well intentioned pointers again. I have you down now as the ignorant and ungrateful kunt you are and will remember. FFS!
  21. There's a set of automatic Hog Ring pliers in a shop I know. They're £50.00. Makes me wonder what you might expect for £20.00 ......
