Lrfs? A Decent One For Sensible Money.
Whizzie replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I got a vision king, bought it for about 75 squid off ebay, if my memory is right? Lots of em seemed to be silly money, but its more than good enough for air gun ranges & I can get results 300 - 400 yds. -
A Question For The Ns50 And Ns200 Owners
Whizzie replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi Si. I'm very new to my unit, and gettin used to the ranges is something I'm playing with at the moment. So this might not be very helpful! However, I know there are several spots on my permission where I can see upwards of 150 yds pretty comfortably. The distant tree lines are clear and detail good for spotting...... As long as the mag on my scope is wound down. With the magnification turned up, I'm finding the useable range restricted to about 120 yds or may be less. I'm using a hawke niteye 6-24/50 and I have left the sunshade fitted. I haven't tried to take the sunshade of it, to see ho -
Thanks lads. Some good tips there. I was fluffing & kicking the other night cos I should have come home with at least 3 nice rabbits, but got nowt! It's a big open area in places. Most spots i know the range distances very well. I think its just gonna be a case of playing with it & getting used to it. Whizzie

My better half got me a Nitesite NS200, and I'm incredibly impressed with it so far! But bugger me, if I haven't missed some shots, I should have bagged easily! I always go through the pre hunt mandatory zero check etc, checked the pellets are good & undamaged etc. My rifle is an air ranger in .177. It goes to work with the bottle gassed well within the sweetspot etc. It really is a case of judging distance / range to target in darkness... Any tips guys & gals much appreciated, guys and gals! New Edition To The Air Ranger
Whizzie replied to M47KS_M4N_CH71S's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Gorgeous set up! Enjoy it! I love my ranger, I've got the hawke niteye 6-24/50 with the SR12, I absolutely love it, the only complaint is getting enough time out to enjoy it! Have a great time! -
Great shooting & nice footage. Keep em coming!

Hi Lauben, I'm no expert butcher mate. It's just a whopping big rabbit! Sounds daft, but it is. I never hang game, I'm no a fan of very strong meat, so fresh is best for me. I always aim to have my quarry from field to freezer in under 5hrs, if its a short day in the field. Certainly no less than 12hrs in hot weather. Large quarry like deer need to be bled. If the kills fresh, I just hang it, cut its throat & bleed it out for a couple of hours, if its a day or 2 old, much more care needs to be taken. The main thing is to get the intestines out ASAP & put it in a mesh fly net, to keep

Excellent day with the rifle, dogs, ferrets and kids.
Whizzie replied to AirgunGuy's topic in Airgun Hunting
Fabulous! Great days work & great to see the kids getting in there too. Well done on such a great bag! -
Great news! Something & nothing, and even if your in the know, and it's an easy job to fix, sometimes it can all go t*ts up, and they'll pin it on you, and wave a bill at you instead of a warranty job. Happy lamping! Hope you get a bag full!

Funnily enough me n my mate were chatting this afternoon, he said he's been round all of his favourite spots & nothin.

I reckon we all have nights like that, from time to time. Persevere. I'm far from as experienced as some of the lads on here. Darkness is both friend and foe. It's hard to judge range at night. This year I've invested in a night vision monocular for the first time. I'm using that to scout for quarry & then using a red filtered lamp to flash em up for the shot at the last minute. However, the NV is x5 mag & I have my scope set on x12 for a 35yd zero. Having the different magnifications is taking some getting used to. The rabbits on my permissions are all gettin lamp shy now. They we

Its already in the freezer! Though I ve shared it with the lad who had the misfortune of hitting it, as appreciation for his kindness & telling me about it & small compensation for the damage & faffing about with his insurance. And guy on heres having the head & hyde for making stuff. Waste not, want not...

Lads; As a side issue.. Anyone using ipad3? I'm having problems uploading photos from the ipad, because of size, but it doesnt allow you to make em smaller either.. Had to use the slowly dying laptop...

And then i had an unexpected bonus as i took a call from my mate, who was on his way to work & hit a Roe Deer (The second one out of the hedge) in thick fog.. So thats Christmas dinner sorted!

Here are some images from my recent outings.

If you've got a few of em about, set up a feed station for them, give em the opportunity to get used to raiding it, then sit n wait on it, and just pick em off from a safe, comfortable spot. Make sure they're dead when handling! Pick up with the tail! A lively one will give you one hell of a bite!

Yeah Si, the previous shooter, what a plonker not showing up to a permission like that. Most blokes would give their hind teeth to get access to a site, let alone one like that. 1st class muppetry that is. (The caviat of course being you don't know what happened to the previous guy; I'll health, change of job, etc etc. But even so... It's an immaculately kept golf course, I'd go round that in a wheelchair!!) :) :)

A very enjoyable vid again guys! Great result! FFS not showing up on a permission like that!!?? That's 1st class muppetry!!!

I reckon there will have been many huge & catastrophic events in the history of our world, all of which have been survived by life in many forms, not least of all people.. Whatever took care of the dinosaurs, 1) it missed my ex wife & 2) its unlikely to be a complete global killer, destroying all life on our planet. If or indeed, when, the apocalypse happens, be that earthquake / volcano / tsunami / mankinds ignorance & stupidity - nuclear war; people are resilient. By & large, where we in our western cultures have become Ignorant to the skills of bushcraft or any true capab

Both mate. It's a big area, so I have a dander round the usual hot spots to see what's occurring. In one part there's a lovely split recently planted woodland. I had a great time in there from January through April, but then the wild grasses n nettles became too long & you can't see the warrens, I was back there over the weekend, and although in most of it that's still the case, under the trees, the grasses are thinner & it's good to sit n snipe again. Nothing happening in the paddocks again, but now the wheats in & field re drilled for next year, I could see where the Rabbi

Made amends this weekend though, freezer will take about one more rabbit & that's it! I'm so pleased with yesterday's raid on Heavens real life country pantry, I'm gonna have a day off it today! Maybe need another freezer??!
