  1. same as nearly every other terrier kennel club started making standard for them and it wasnt favoured to work them just to show them with nice hair cuts
  2. mate any terrier or dog can maintain an instinct to hunt retreive attack scent anything that its originally bred for
  3. breeding a bitch at 7 for her first litter wouldnt be the best advice 3 or 4 would be better age and as long as the bitch is well tested in all aspects of terrier work. all this big name shit is nonsence there are alot of true terrier men that keep there own stuff test very hard cull harder and breed from the best they have and have no need to buy terriers for ridiculous prices and names.aswell as some of the men denying that they have introduced bull, wheten or any other outside blood into there line so what if they have if it makes a steadier dog more suited to the working mans needs then i w

  10. hitcher i do agree with dispatching vermin for farms on permision aswell its hard enough to get land but when it comes to ten or more so called dog men running pack of dogs that are looking numbers rather than actually controlling foxes its a slap in the face to good dog men
  11. you cant compare a bit of vermin control on foxs an running hares out of season ,,iv shot a few problem foxs an dug one this week the topic in the terrier section an passed a few phone calls on to other lads to sort a few out which resulted in them getting a couple 1000 acres of land to control vermin abit isnt slaughtering everything in sight that they have no permision to be on as well as half of them with guns and what the lurchers and terriers dont get they guns do. by saying that i cant compare foxes to hares would suggest hare is your main sport and fox is mine so i do think i have a g
  12. it all depends on the dog a small jrt or any terrier can be a handy tool and as for hard they can be as hard as you want them to be great bushing ratting ferreting and digging dogs
  13. not just men out running big ears there are teams out beating cover killing charlie cubs 3 times a week i know of 6 gangs of cub killers and dont hav respect for one of them men that call them selfs real dog men excuses are excercising the hounds bringing pups on hounds and lurchers.excercising hounds then why bring team of lurchers and terriers bringing pups on great then ther pups when adults will never see an adult fox cause use have killed them all!!! and any terrier can work a cub.give things a chance to grow breed killing your own sport.and at the end of the proper season they are sayin
  14. maybe even 1st cross put back to whippet/grey. or 3/4 grey 1/4 wheaten.it just depends on what u want.with wheaten i find that they do throw a strong head even generations down the line and its just getting the mix of body and head right for taking both quarry
  15. some nice looking lurchers are those dogs used to dispatch coyotes or just to hold or chase down? how long does it take for good lurcher to kill coyote would love the chance to hunt them with some of mine
  16. If it's a "drawn out fight"; then they aren't fox dogs !!! Cheers. Spot on. agreed
  17. has the pup ever been grabbed by older dog in the kennel?how long have u had the dog.better running the dog single handed(not on stuff with teeth) get its confidence up for awhile till it matures give it rags on dead stuff then let it in when older.do u keep it kenneled up with other dogs
  18. they are good pics wolfie have seen on some treads on other sites ones from finland sweden and so on.it is ashame that no one keeps lines going over here and other terrier lines for that fact.as soon as kc gets there hands on a breed everyone backs out of them when i think it should be the opposite. it does take a good pool of terriers to bring a breed back to working lines it is just bad to see people quit on dogs that were the bases of the terriers we work today.nothing bad to say about patterdales would just be good to see a variety of working blood and breeds about in todays world.
  19. 3/4 grey 1/4 wheaten just has more gears than half bred.if your talking about running a fox on lamp or cover
  20. yes he did he actually died last season with a collapse was a good finding dog and stayed till dug he was the only one i had ever seen work and work well would have mixed it up.was just wondering if anyone has had experience with them below ground.
  21. depends what you are wanting to hunt and the way your hunting day or nite i keep 1st cross wheten grey not really good lamping dogs as such they do give all they can better with 3/4 for lamping just for that extra gear did passed on a whippet wheten few months back just like a real strong whippet head to big for my liken for running and he was a fighty cnut would fight with anything thats y i got rid.one of my first cross bitches has a head that is bigger than near any bull cross i have came across.but when she grabs game its gone.
