And a whole lot more people think it's a hyped up, internet legend, money making dog, that it's owner will put to any bitch, any breed, as long as the £££ are there ! Cheers. darren wont be happy about this.he doesnt like the truth. Like I give a f**k ? I had Whippets, (and Lurchers, Salukis, etc,) when he was still on his ma's tit ! Don't know the guy, but he sounds like a "Legend Wannabee" !! Cheers. So that makes you a legend??? Running dogs have been around for 100's and 100's of years befor you was on ya ma's tit. who? the dog is average and the bloke is a 1st class prat.

id get used to looking after one first, maybe get a few seasons experiance under both your belts, then maybe get another, that way you will have an older dog to show the new one the ropes and they wont be any where near the same age, otherwise you will end up with a working team geting old at the same time.ferrets are a good way to introduce rabbits to the dog.dont rush the dog,as mally said early entering can cause the ruination of your whippet.good luck.

is the whippet becoming to popular for its own good
workinwhippet replied to workinwhippet's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
did any one see the article this week, whippets and whippet xs with paper thin skin etc.surely they are no more prone to cuts and rips from barbed wire and thorns than any other working dog. -

the bullshitters and the peddlars are imho in the minority of whippet owners. -

theres pros and cons for the paper work,if its genuine, wich im sure in the vast majority of cases it is.i just think sometimes a few people like the paper work as they make more money out of their litters.been some interesting posts on here, and thankfully not to many harsh words, the whippet has a lot of fans and rightly so,its a handy little fker.the working whippet speaks for itself and has done for many years. -

the members on the hunting life get looked down upon by some people on other forums mainly the men that run them.so its good to see somthing posative, especialy with regards to working whippets. -

would it be a fair assumption to say that some one who breeds a litter or two every year isnt keeping a pup from each litter bred so therefore must be doing it for money,or is it true that they make no money from a litter or two each year as its expensive to raise two litters of pups till there eight weeks old. -

that does seem to be the case money and or fame are the driving force behind the breeding programes of some of the well known people, using the breed to their own ends.but there are people im sure, again as in other breeds of working dog who have their prioritys firmly planted in the continuation of a sound well bred working whippet. -
an article in last weeks countrymans by mark hopkins aked this question and i wonderd what the lads on here with whippets thought.there seems to be some divisions in the working whippet world,as there probably is in many other working dog circles.who has the future of the working whippet in their hands.
