As I waited for the shot I got a txt to say my mate would love a fallow, so deed done new farm, no mess happy mate all round result, So not a wasted night, be with you next time

if you want some free stalking you will have to put some hours in yourself on a scheme that we are running for lads who havent got the cash and would sooner put some hours in themselves in return we take them out giving the same amount of hours worked . Found here http://deerstalking-uk.com/Forum/ or click on the logo if I want some free stalking? no thanks I've got loads. but I like the idea of helping others, I am happy to take anyone out and do a lot of other shooting as well and will take someone out, yes i have experience, yes i have land, no I wont charge, even if some

ooops feathered ruffled: I can see why some people think its a con, and lets face it I don't know good from bad, what I do know is its either paying to walk in woods or paying to stalk and hopefully shoot. if you sell say 10 days in april for roe buck do you sell those days because there are 10 roe buck to be shot, or do you say not everyone is going to see one. as said above if you charge per hour, if you shoot in first 10 mins do you carry on for another 2 hours? I don't think that's a very good defence "To many punters today think that its a right because they have parted with

Couple of points to above - rabbit pens - great but useless to watch a dog just chase rabbits about and lets face it if it runs off and you cant get it back when there are no rabbits, you wont stand a hope in hell in a rabbit pen, rule 1 don't put yourself in a position where you are not in control. treats - if you teach a dog to do something for a treat that is his reward he does it for the treat, the dog runs off and finds a nice smell you call him back he has a choice to make, do I a, go back for a treat that I will get anytime or b, stay on this smell its lovely? yes they will choose b

Just to clarify before I book a couple of days is the trophy fee included and can I take the carcass away.
-
I've shot a rat tonight had a big head is that a bronze or silver?
-
Wouldn't try a rabbit pen yet, control needs to be gained first, Run walk and all that.

If you catch em live post them over me terrier loves them

Few things first becap is smack on, Choose your training area, don't use woodland or areas where there are nice smells Remember at 9 months she is a teenager and we know what they are like she is maturing and will do their own thing. Don't worry about the whistle for now as said go back to basics,

Sussex and I are going into business, we both have land that has no deer and we are offering cheap days at £5 a day to stalk, to access the wood you drive down a long drive and to park the car is £30 per day, we provide coffee that is compulsory at £25 per cup and optional sandwiches at £30 each. There is also an additional charge of £100 should you take a pee in the wood, if you see a deer this this is rare and will be charged at £5 a view. Dates available are May 1st for 30 days for both does and bucks and you can shoot anything that is in season. if you are not lucky enough to shoo

Ii don't know why anyone pays or it, there is plenty of land out there you just have to work at it, you may have to travel if there is something you want and it's not in your area. Yes I have afew miles of land but 12 months ago I got a small 70 acre farm, I made a point of driving past the neighbours farm and waived daily, then I called in, I had some decent cards printed introduced myself said shoot deer next door said did he want me to txt him when in the area, then left kept driving past then called in again said watched load of deer go on his land could I shoot, by then I had got to

Use a fuciderm cream if you can get it, but would advise vets and a buster collar infection by licking is a strong possibility if it happened more than 24 hrs ago they wouldn't stitch it now. Anti b would prevent infection, it will take a while cuts on pads do and as long as long as it heals right there shouldn't be long term issues, but any deep cut its advisable to seek vets advice some pads don't join well and will leave you a permanantly lame dog. You can go to kids shops and gets small socks so if you take her out the wound should stay clean

trouble is we are only a small group in a large market, every time i go to game dealer and I put them in their fridge I always have a look at the tags on other deer and there is one guy round here who I know of who's dad used to be a hunt master MFH and he got his son loads of shooting on all the big estates and he drives round in his landy and shoots them and takes about 10 - 15 a week to the dealer, so when I take my few in the prices got lower and lower, ive stopped using them now I ve found another outlet for them, but he alone will keep that one going and Im sure there is a person like th

Springer’s are like thoroughbreds they are designed for a job but as Simon said above you only get out what you put in, the commitment you need is the important thing and the day you turn up at the shoot will all be down to you not the dog, it will put the kettle on if you spend the time teaching it, the only thing that is automatic is the fact they will hunt, but like a thoroughbred they are highly strung and if you hit these types then they will turn out different to say a staff who will just stand there and take it. So time is the key teach it one day and it may forget the next so you do i

Working Springer Spaniel Gundog 24Months Fully Trained - Kent
Philluk replied to cabbiejack's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
there was someone on here a few weeks ago looking for one scroll back a bit and you may find the details http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/281698-wanted-fully-trained-cocker-or-springer-bitch/ -
sorry dont have any videos, im not a pro just someone who has had and trained dogs for shooting for my use for 30 odd years, I am a big believer in start young, my boy had his first birthday on Sunday, he has come on well and is steady and whistle trained, a while ago i put a comment on here about how he didnt return the retrieve to the hand but dropped it 3 feet from me, i used the 2 things any trainer needs, and he now returns to hand. The same 2 items is what you, me and everybody will need and every dog is differant like children, some learn quicker than others some are a pain in the

You have answered your own question "in an open field! If you let her run round the field and she misbehaves take that away to start, back on a lead, heal walk the streets at heel no tight leads a relaxed one, sit at every crossing go to another quiet place, make her sit, on lead move sideways walk around her but keep the sit, Don't let run off in that field. It is important to keep loose lead, if she pulls sharp pull sideways not up or back and use the word heel at the same time. Master it before you move on. Spend a long time walking

What's the collar gonna do? Or what do you think the collar will do? The collar may zap the dog what's he going to connect it with? 2 days? What can anyone achieve in 2 days in the dog training world? There are loads of questions here and you sound stressed, The total wrong way to train a dog, It's not the dogs fault someone for 2 1/2 yrs allowed this to start, but in fairness in 12 months you have allowed it to continue now you've clicked it's not working, if you have allowed her to run free that's what she is used to and she won't know why she now can't, using a collar is going to do wh

if you were closer yes I could,
-
Thanks Eddie, the key to spaniel training is you are doing something natural ie spaniels working ( we don't teach them to hunt do we) with a collar you are introducing something that is not natural (pain) you could put her off, or make her nervous you want her to enjoy, but managed. It will take time and you need to be patient like teaching 60 yr old man to drive a car, he can do it cause he has been doing it for years, but he has done it wrong for so long he does wrong, well.

The white stag is a old fallow I've seen him many times over the years, ive stopped on does in most places apart from one as there are too many on one area will be out 3 days next week have a few more to get

Can be done its just harder
-
No it's not but go right back to the beginning, but you need to stop shooting with her now, treat her like a puppy, and start from the beginning and don't move on until you have mastered the previous. So back on a lead, walk, sit, stay, can use the whistle as you go walk sit blow, then stay on a lead take a step back if it doesn't work go sideways. Sit stay walk away all the usual stuff but don't let have to much freedom. Once mastered, on walks go in the middle of woods off lead and keep changing directions keep eye on her but don't call, but go forward then suddenly turn left don't

Who Would Say They Have A Quiet Deer Rifle?
Philluk replied to Philluk's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
The T8 would that be quieter than the 12 -
I have a few places that keep horses, and one that backs houses, I use a 243 with jet z and it's not the quietest but it's got a nice crack. So I went to try a T12 and to be honest I thought they were about the same would anyone out there say their set up is quiet? If so what do you have? And is it quiet?
