    yeah he seemed a nice bloke i meet him at 1 of the fairs i went to early in the year and my mentor swears by his stuff ive been using his hood for about 5 days now and so so so much better !! fits perfect looks good and she takes to it very well!! atb stu

    hi mate re the hood my mentor terry got me 1 from steve halsall and its amazing goes on straight away no messing about fits well and looks good! i will have a look at kens hoods as im slowly building up a collection! have had a look at kens hoods and gotta say they do look vey good! atb mate stu

    hes a top bloke nothing to much trouble! if you look on his sponser bit look at the latest pop hood thread thats my hood!! yeah i know what you mean about the ebay tenner bit but i have 2 decent hoods and just bought it as a back up really so i can take out in the field as a spare but she wont wear it anyway!! i took some pics today so i send them to you via pm or do you have a email i can send them to you from saves me putting them on photobucket first?? cheers mate stu

    cheers grovsey i will send you some pics tomorrow so you can have a look at the mo im using the anglo/indian hood when i bought her from my breeder he asked if i was going to hood her and i said yes so he supplied 1 i thought that the best option as im a novice and he would get the size right more than me! i also have some other hoods i have a cheap 1 from ebay (magic hood) khan style and also a dutch 1 cant remember where from but the quality don't look bad i will also send you some pics and i have a expensive 1 on order from a guy called tom off the IFF his user name is TNT_46 and has a spon

    hooding in my opinion is a no brainer i see only postives in hooding a bird even a harris hawk and i think its worth the hassle and what ever work it takes for me to continue using it then thats what i will do! i think its always nice to have the option also if ever a situation arrises where you really need to use a hood and i think in falconry those situations always arise!!!!! my harris will take the hood but sometimes it takes 5-10 mins to be able to get the job done!! im gonna try taking off and putting on repeat repeat before every flying session everyday for a while i think!! cheers

    im having problems with my fhh hooding!! i have a cheap weastweld falconry 1 that came with her when i got her and she has been getting worse day by day but have since bought more expensive and better quailty ones and she wont even go in them!! dont know what to do next HELP!!
  10. i fly a harris and use a whistle, i started by casting her in a tree i use 1 whistle for follow on and 2 whistles for a reward it was quite easy didn't take her long to get the hang of it!! not sure if this is the best or right way but works for me she has just started to follow on by herself now and i don't always have to use the whistle hope this helps best of luck atb stu
  11. cheers grovsey felt her keel she is fine and when she does bate you can see you is still very strong so no worries there yet been trying to get out with gun for rabbit but no luck yet been busy at work home and of course scarlet although 1 of my mates is going shooting tomorrow so fingers crossed i have a bunny by tomorrow night!!! atb stu
  12. again not posted on here for few days 14/08/2012 got scarlett flying leash length when its just me and her but as soon as my mate brings his dog round she only hops a short distance so yesterday give her 1 oz of rations as she wasn't playing ball so to speak its important for us she gets used to the dog as he will be a very important part of the team I'm going to his tonight and not gonna get her hoping or jumping just going to focus on her be really comfortable with the dog she is also hardly bating at all now! ps cheers for imput and support its always welcome all the best stu

  14. not put posted anything on here for a few days as not much change with things 12/08/2012 started off with a piece of washed beef with her on the fist as soon as hood was off she feed then put her on T perch she had a look for a bit then constantly bated every time she was put back on perch so re hooded let he settle for a bit then same again back onto the perch she seemed a lot calmer and was bending down for meat and i slowly pulled away but again started bating again 6 times then re hooded let her settle again for a bit then same again this time she hopped on and did so 6 times in all ou

  18. 09/08/2012 scarlet is progressing as expected she feed after about 5 mins after the hood was of so getting used to her soundings and me and calm again and hardly bating and when she does she gets straight back on the hood!! been walking about with here round the garden as well without the hood all in all getting very confident!! been giving her 3oz of washed shinned beef and she weighed 2lb again so no change in weight 09/08/2012 took scarlet round to my mentors again tonight for the manning session to see if she would feed in front of viz the dog and she did again after the hood was of

It's not too bad if she is not bating about like a looney... ..but then again you don't realy need it there..if you are worried about her blunting her talon's when the hood does finaly come off a good lump of astro turf under the bow would be better..it's also easier to clean with the hose pipe or jet spray.. cheers millet i get on and order some astro for just underneath the bow.. she isn't bating at all mate well what i can see and trust me I'm out there checking her loads to much!!lol atb stu

He offered you some great advise on using a tiring to keep the bird occupied and more interested in the food and glove for longer there ma
  22. hi millet thanks for your comments yes its carpet that the bow is sat on and she is hooded so she isn't bating at all and don't come of the perch but if you still think thats bad?? i take it on board mate cheers again atb stu
