  1. Well and truly! There is a lot of power in those Fens!
  2. Yes just for the appearance. He did put clay on when heat treating to get a differential temper although it has no effect to the appearance as it is. If it was etched in acid you would see a Hamon line where the hard and softer steel meet.
  3. It was very scientifically worked out. The equation i used was....... Partition= length of cuttings of firewood+overlapped by excess length of 2 cuttings and spaced out by thickness of one cutting.? Equations were never really my thing so pure good luck it actually works!? Kicking the box would have been the next equation!
  4. Had problems with mice eating the bait. I am using some old frying oil and pouring plenty on the bait pan and letting it run under the traps. Seems to be working a treat.
  5. Nice Job! Also a great piece of history and story.?
  6. Not on it myself but have a look from time to time. Am over on EdgeMatters and just sold his Kitchen slicer on the sales there.
  7. The stainless spydies are riveted together and not meant to be dismantled. I have a couple bigger ones. P1090247 by Terry Griffiths, on Flickr P1090204 by Terry Griffiths, on Flickr Some like the Delica the top one in the second picture are made to be able to change the scales (that one is for sale by the way HERE I could do something with it if you like. The easiest thing would be to glue scales on top of the stainless ones rather than dismantle and rivet scales on. Could do antler, wood, denim micarta, anything really you want. Regards Griff
  8. I cold ground it out of a HSS industrial planer blade to retain the original temper. I used an oxy-propane torch to take the temper out of the spine to give flexibility. Hadn't planned to leave the temper pattern visible but kind of liked it and think it adds to the whole Japanese dagger look. Griff
  9. Now Sold thanks. Happy to take orders.
  10. Nice one Jock, good to hear from you. Yes i could give that a clean up and bit of tlc. ATB Griff
  11. Seems all quiet at the moment personally i am happy with the forum. Bruce has cancer and mental health issues, not to mention moving house and going through a divorce but this apparently is not a good enough excuse for a small minority of keyboard warriors who were relentlessly demanding answers. The mods finally had enough and banned them. Answers will be forthcoming all in good time.
  12. Just finished this Tanto style knife. It is made for a KITH (Knife In a hat) on another forum. You make a knife to a chosen style, names all go in a " hat" and you all get someone else's knife. This one is made from a HSS Planer blade, black denim wrap Micarta and copper trims. 13. If you have pins right trough i don't think you would need any additional aid for the glue...... he probably drilled holes because he could and liked the look of them!? If you had the ability to knurl it it wouldn't hurt but not necessary.
  14. Yes weight reduction and giving a good key for the epoxy glue.
  15. All done. Tried and tested. 16. I re-configured the box this year to take the traps sideways and put holes in the other end of the box as advised. They do indeed work much better that way and getting clean kills.
  17. My lad has been back in the shed again. Here is his latest design. A hefty chopper made from 7mm Landrover Leaf Spring. With a 200mm blade she is a beast! Will get some more pics up when it is finished. P1090245 by Terry Griffiths, on Flickr P1090244 by Terry Griffiths, on Flickr
