richmcgin replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
just did that for you guys the .17 came out at 1.8" at 75yrds and as stated above the 22lr is 1" at 75yrds, quite predicatble i would have thought, not quite sure what the argument is here though i must admit. Just noticed the 22lr figure is way off should be between 3.1" and 4.0" depending on which load you use. -

What to look for when buy a second hand gun?
richmcgin replied to 03milesR's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
E Rizini are ok ish if you like that sort of thing but the old Rizini`s are a pile of crap the ejectors would never stay in the correct timing, the thing was nasty, i had mine a good 2 months before i managed to offload it, lost 100 quid on it and brought a Berreta supersport which i had for years. -
Cheers guys may give them a try, not gone as light as 40g in the 223 before but might be worth looking at cheers

Actually i did say that some of the stuff you say Deker is good stuff but i also said that some of it is dribble in my opinion. I dont much like the agumental approach some people on here have some times it is better to express an opinion and leave it there. but i must admit that a good discusion can be informative and helpful to all. as you can imagine i have followed this tread and foresaw Riflehunter`s responce and if you look back to the original post and your reply, you should have just called him a liar and been done with it. Just my opinion you understand. -

You are still missing the point entirely, 600 yards with a .223 at a range isn't an experiment, the rifle is well known to be perfectly capable at that distance under range circumstances, 1000 is capable, 1200 yards may be an experiment with it! My .223 1,300ft lb, your .22lr with Eley subs less than 100ft lb! :hmm: We have a lot of different calibres and types of ammo for a reason! I don't have any crow examples but this may help to explain what I mean, hit a rabbit at 150-200 yards with a .22lr and the odds are you may spend some time looking for the hole it made, this bunny was hit at a -

Hi Mark i know all about that prob, i use a spotting scope most of the time, i dont tend to get on too weel with high mag scopes so i stick to the 3-9x50 or 40, somedays i can see a group from 100yrds other days i cant, the spotting scope i got was from ebay cost me about 20 quid and it is 28x60 so i can see every thing with that.

Yes I think some rounds benefit more than others,I dont crimp my .243 rounds I neck size only and I cannot see how crimping would improve them at all,I fitted a custom Boyds laminate stock at the weekend and after a re zero, it put 4 rounds virtually through the same hole @ 100 yds,but I do think crimping hornet rounds is agood idea, even though I havent done it myself yet did you bed the action into that stock or is it just a drop in job, i have a lovely bit of wood on my rifle which i have managed to put alot of marks in so was looking to change it for some thing else but am not sure if i

I have one paid 23 quid for it on ebay got batts and charger for that but the torch is only 345 lumen which is only good to shoot under to about 60yrds but ok for close in bunnies, would defo agree that you should get as many lumens as you can.

I do crimp all my rounds in 223, i have been told that it will help create a uniform pressure, it also helps to keep the bullet where it was seated. one problem i have had is that it hardens the case mouth and small cracks will start to appear if the cases are not annealed, i have found that after 5 uses mine need the annealing or they will crack. but that aside the crimp has improve groups at 100yrd
