22-250 , 223 , or 22 swift
riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
thanks guys. a big factor for me is reload ammo cost. the land is safe for a .243. sadly i've not seen any deer on it tho. i supose the only way to find out is to chat with my local fo who covers that area. my guess is no deer no .243. -
i'm planning to put in for one of the above, but cannot decide which. my main concerns are: 1. relaoding costs. 2. accuracy up to 300 yards. 3. barrel life. has anyone regularly shot and compared the three?

what sort of problems? Is it the electronics? I'm thinking about an air ranger. Not so sure now you've said that. original problems. with airwolf's crono, air fill valve, crossover alignment problem barrel and block not aligned (costly took hundreds of pounds to resolve the problem plus over a year of unhappy ownership) on the positive side its all been sorted, the acuracy is outstanding but may be a lucky barrel.

Hi all, I am looking to start catching crows. never tried it before and they don't go into the larsen trap with a magpie call bird nor baited without a call bird. there are loads of crows on my patch. whats the best way to catch them?

i'll try and do some more uploading soon, gonna have to invest in a better camera as the one i have is just a cheep pc world camera probably made in china!. resolution settings on it are rubbish. it seems many people are into u tube now so will have to have a bash at trying editing software also. i shot a fox with the .22lr velocitors many months ago at yards in the chest, the bullet came out the other side so not really expanding enough. ballistic tip ammo is definetly a better option for dedicated fox shooting imo (unless its a shoulder shot with hmr ballistic tip ). however if your lam

i think your away with the fairies on this one my comments to your post are in "" Ok pal, I don't think I need to say any more, you have done enough. For your info, I use a whole variety of calibres in both a professional and sporting capacity and I love the .22, but it will not do, on the moors what I want it to do. When I am driving or walking around and I see a crow at 150, then I want that crow dead. A .22 simply cannot do this consistently, unless you are still asleep. Tell me about the deer though that is really interesting?. I will reply tomoz though as I am off out now.

The most naive post on rifle shooting I have read for ages, haha. How posts like this will come back to haunt you. why do you say that?

i cannot see any reason to buy a .17hmr when a good.22lr can fire nice quiet subs and nice loud cheep hv rounds both reasonably accurately. i'm way to tight to spend £12 a box on 50 hmr rounds the way i go through shots with my rimmy. if you really need something for foxing and deer etc get a nice centre fire. a big big plus for the humble .22lr is the CHOICE to shoot subs and hv rounds just by reloading the mag anywhere any time. my neighbour (friend) has a farm next to me and he messaged me on facebook asking if i had been shooting an antiaircraft gun 2 days ago. people are

For Sale Cree light with mounting bracket to scope
riflehunter583 replied to The Boxer's topic in Optics and Night Vision
got a pic of it -
mine was a 30ftlb .177 custom job!! so i would only be guessing 70 shots normally, a little more than the s5/410. my daystate airwolf get 45-50 @ 36ftlb 400cc bottle. but its been back to the factory many times in its life with problems. does anyone know what an s400 would be worth second hand (sub 12ftlb)?
-
theobens seem like a well made gun for fac, only bad thing that i can think of is its a pain screwing the bottles off the basic models to recharge if you go for pcp. best getting at least a 400cc bottle ideally with click connect type refilling. also some cheap theoben break barrels around in fac.

Any financial profit in breeding deer?
riflehunter583 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
thanks for the advice will check out a deer farms association, do you recon it would make as much as say 5k of profit per year? i have though about some kind of pigs for the wood as where the smaller trees are the wood floor is thick with brambles and I hoped that pig might get rid of brambles. the idea of deer came due to the beauty of such animals. -
I have a small, small holding My question is, to any deer managers out there. is it worth putting the high fences up and breeding deer or are other livestock a better choice in terms of hassle, and financial return?

well heres the pic of the bushes if one of these fits your barrel your laughing. one is about 17mm and the other about is 21.5mm and these two cost me £10 extra so grab a bargin the lot posted for £85.
