  1. i will find out for you mate i did read it somewhere but cant find it now it is some sort of wax apparently to keep the fibres together ?! . i only purchased them yesturday for £1.30 each they measure between 10 an 6 inch each and are 2 inch deep but the walnut is only 1.5 inch so will have to see how they look when they arrive.i origionally was after spalted or burr but the prices were getting high and as its my first one went for something reasonable but cheap,the 3 including delivery is just over a tenner dont know how expensive this is but should get 2-3 handles out of each so doesnt see
  2. so if you bathed your ferret and made it smell pretty do you think it would work as well ? WHY? does your cock smell like a ferret?
  3. isnt there smell the whole point of using them for work ? . ares are under the dining room window and dont seem to cause any problems,i worry more about finding the rancid piece of chicken they have stashed away somewhere than there smell itself. must admit when i first went near one it smelt but you dont notice it after a while,now they dont seem to really smell much.

  7. well this was my grandfathers bill hook quite old and is having a make over,these are piks of before i started and of some pieces of wood im going to use for the handle think the elm is the one for me,since the pictures i have removed the handle and straightened it up,wed will be the day to take the grinder to it. the handle will be hand made with a brass collar more piks later in the week

  10. i have a good supply for cheap steel but what would be best to make a first knife? 01 tool steel 2-3 mm thick? any help apprecited atb
  11. i would of thought it would be quite easy to get this sort of permission ,my grandad spent most of his life doing this and just use to turn up and ask the land owner if he could spend a couple of days there ,think he rarely went the same place twice and found a hell of allot of stuff, i had a go a few years back but got sick of finding nails and stuff lol atb

  13. depends on how much of the rest of the house you wants to heat aswell ,you dont want a huge fire in a tiny room as you dont want a tiny fire in a huge room. you should be able to find something online that will tell you
  14. see this topic is a few month old but if its any help all wood should be seasoned for around 2 years and pine is not a good wood to burn full of sap causing tar. my old fella burns anthracite in his stove and it stays lit 24/7.he burns a couple of buckets a day and it just ticks over,with little waste. if your chimney is good you should be able to use just a short piece of pipe as long as you seal off the inside of the chimney as someone suggested couple pieces angle iron and a steel sheet with a flange and the pipe poking through should be sufficient as long as your chimney is sound,if it

  21. its a red plastic bottle with plastic screw cap and metal spout and ball got some puppy bowls like this, did put one under till i took it out.
  22. is there different quality end feeders as the one i bought was quite cheap but seems to drip constantl and wetting bedding and wood. do they all do this or did i get a bad/cheap one. atb
  23. you can only learn so much in books ,hands on experience is the only way to really learn
  24. dog is raw fed so dont know why i bought dry for ferret just did it as new to them, think it will be all meat from now on .used dry as i thought they eat little and often so its there as extra if they run out of meat but im in there a few times a day so its not like i wouldnt notice if they needed feeding.
