I've made loads of cattys and gave them to my mates kids ... One shot me on hand with elastic ... other shot me with wet bog roll This is after I showed them how to fire catapults .

I've tried this Its not strong enough ,, Old boot leather is though ... Also some of the free samples from Saxon leather But Roo leather is just so strong and thin

All plywood is laid in a "crossply" configuration. I didn't think I'd mention it before but as you've brought it up again and are using your own, invented term for it, I thought I'd put you straight. I make and shoot naturals, not board cuts. But there's nothing wrong with them, in fact most of the current interest in catapults owes a lot to the Multiplex makers. Who said I was talking about you .... Fair enough! Lol!!!!!! You jumped in with both feet then ... Also Just try Google search for Cross ply wood You will see I didn't dream it up ... Wouldnt qorry about wasting plastic Miccey , Hdpe is everywhere when you start looking Mrs.B bought me a lovely set of screwdrivers last year - hardly used as they're 'for best' (you know how it is!). Thing is, they're in a lovely big black case made of..............do you think she'd notice ??????? I am already on it melted my router case ... I like makita blue best ...lol

I made a good one in a pan ... lol It needed 4mm cutting of top and bottom of plastic ... But I will stick to oven wasted too much plastic .... EEEK I am no pro at this just like making cattys ... lol

Its horrid ... you must desert your love of the crossply ... cover it with nice looking wood ... Touching too much ply wood makes your brain fall out

Its ok now I know 4 ways to melt plastic that sets wrong ... That plastic absorbs oil and is very hot on your fingers ... .. On the bright side I made some lead balls ammo too

To press : I've one cattys ok ,, Then 4 fails ,,used oil in a pan to melt the HDPE2 burnt my finger Then set the plastic on fire as I was melting it on my stove up shed in a pan Then I just opened jig and the plastic was cracked and broke ... So its stick to the oven at 200c I will master this good fun if nowt else
