  1. What a coincidence! I have been after a left bollock for quite a while now! Tomo, that land in the dales wouldn't be up Kilnsey, Kettlewell way would it? PM if you'd prefere.
  2. The digs vary quite a lot on my land. I once dug 2ft through sand on a warren, and then 6ft through sand 10 yard away so it all varies. Then at other places, the ground is more rock than earth and is a nightmare to try and dig in. And Paulus, I just copy the img codes from photobucket. Don't know if that changes anything?
  3. Most of that land is on an estate that wouldn't allow guests on unfortunately, or you'd be very welcome.
  4. You boys sure do do some rough spots. Don't do much hedge ferreting at all here, the land is mostly sheep grazed with dry stone walls surrounding. A ferreters dream.
  5. Do you have to be dyslexic to read whin's posts? Regarding the thread, I think that to judge someone's ability to catch rabbits; you need to look at their ratio of rabbits seen/ bolted to rabbits caught. But also you need to add into the equation what land you are hunting, with woodland and hedgerows obviously being a lot harder to catch rabbits in than open warrens in the middle of horse paddocks. Usually though, the 'seasoned' hunter will have aquired enough rabbiting spots so that if they do with to catch a bit haul of coneys, they can. There's my crock o' shit anyway.
  6. Been out quite a few times lately with charlie nelly1 off here, bagging 7 on Saturday morning and 7 yesterday. This time I was on my own doing a little spot a couple of hundred yards from my front door. It's an open warren that I ferret only once every season, and can be relied upon to produce 1 or 2 rabbits when ferreted. Nutjob, the polecat jill once again joined me, and after a short walk I was stood outside the warren. About 2 dozen purse nets made sure that any fleeing coneys would soon be stopped. The jill was collared up, and sent down. She showed at a couple of holes, but each time she
  7. That's some dig! I guess in those situations you've just got to get on with it, and hope that you don't hit too many rocks!
  8. Great write up as per usual, will the mixy rabbits be ferret food?
  9. Here's a link to the thread. Quite a few of my nets are off netrigger, so I would recomend him. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/223308-where-to-buy-purse-nets-net-guide-read-here/
  10. Can't see the point in it myself.
  11. Yes they are fine, I usually just chop off the head and gut it and send it straight in.
  12. Cheers lads, although when you're replying, could you refrain from quoting the whole report.
  13. Went to some permission up the dales today, taken 60-70 bunnies already off the few fields already this season, but there are still plenty about. The first rabbit I saw dropped straight into a 2 holer, dream start. My polecat jill, same as yesterday, bolted it straight away. Straight onto another 2 holer, the only rabbit home bolted with the Nutjob riding on its back. The next warren was 15-16 holes, covered in nettle stalks. Manadged to net them up and had 4 bolt within 15 minutes, great stuff. The final warren of the day was around about 50 holes, netted them all up and bolted a futher
  14. Because I wanted a decent name, didn't like the last one and seems as though it costs nothing for an account, I made a new one.
  15. Aye it's certainly not a huge rabbit, but when i'd necked it, it's nerves kicked it into a load of water which flattened down it's coat so it looks smaller than it actually is.
  16. Hello All After being a 'watcher' on another account for a while, I decided to set up this account and do a bit of posting. After doing a few jobs for the parents this morning, I grabbed my polecat jill 'Nutjob', a rucksack full of nets and a spade, and set off. I decided that today I would ferret a few warrens that are along a fencline. I netted them all up at the start, so that any bunnies that got out of the nets would hopefully be backnetted at a different warren. It was slow going at the start, with the first couple of warrens not holding any rabbits. I then had a rabbit bolt, straigh
