What is in the breeding of your pup Ellis? Some breeds such as Deerhounds take much longer to develop and it's therfore advisable to hang fire with such dogs where as some smaller types Beddy x's etc: can often be started much younger if thats your way? use your head mate, there is an inbetween, get a young dog out watching an learning, but dont gee it anything too hard, i dont show mine a lamp till they about 6/7 month dependin on the dog an time of year, but i do take pups as young as 10/12 weeks out local to watch a couple of hours ferreting or bushing, but i do tend to base the day around the pup an as soon as it seems to be bored or tired i go home, like i say, do what you think is right its your dog at end of day

best to start with young dogs an young ferrets, but you will break most adults to each other, thing is to get them used to each other then let the dog see that ferret in hole = bunny out of hole, most dogs will click

id deffo go with a beddy grey rather than a beddy whippet, but i ferret a lot of rougher ground an id end up lamping it aswell that that extra few inches makes a big diffrence imo, best a luck whatever yous get
