  3. Well my dog is 18months now. I didnt start him on game until he was 12months old. I had spent all the time up to that working on everything else like stock breaking, sit stay and all the usual bits and pieces. I wasnt going to do jumping till he was atleast 9months but the little bugger learned how to jump the fence to get into my neighbours house. He chased a few rabbits when i was out and about in the summer but i wasnt trying to get him to they were just wrong place wrong time. It waited till the end of august and to get the perfect night before i was willing to go out and start him on the
  4. Thanks minion for pointing out that this was started to talk about lucas terrers not plummer and his tales. We have all heard them and we all make or own desisions. As for the working sealyhams i know of a person in scotland that has a pack of sealy types they do have alot of sealy blood in them but i dont know if any are pure. Regards highlander.
  5. Dont know much about the Minshaw side but will find out. Just in the house just been out for a run on some bunnies four out of six slips, last rabbit noticed the dog slowing down and on taking the rabbit from the dog noticed blood coming from above the stopper pad. So packed it in got home to find a nice puncture wound above the stopper pad so no hunting for a week or two with me. One of them nights when you think everything going great dog going well and as usual it all goes tits up .
  6. Good to hear that some people are wrking these dogs under ground the main problem i have is that my first dog is to big and he never took to fox, he will hunt rabbit and rat all day but show him a fox an he turns and heads for the hills. i never entered him early i gave him time but he just never came.
  7. I lost my best ever ferret five years ago she even had a locator on but we just could not find her i left the box set cade traps to no avail. It was big sand holes we were ferreting and i think one of the tunnels may have collapsed on her but we will never know. We went back every day for a week but never got a thing. In this game these things happen its all part of the sport. I know people that have even lost terriers to ground.
  8. I have two but one only works rabbit and is gun shy so the girlfriend has it because it aint no use to me and the other is a cracking little dog he works above and below on fox and he never backs off. I was just intrested to see if anybody else worked them to ground.
  9. As far as i know he is mother is Minshaw bred and his father was Bull x Greyhound i cant remember the exact details but both parents were 100% workers.

  12. I feed my pups chudleys puppy for the first few weeks until they are about four months. Then they get the same as all my other dogs offal (usually deer). I boil up all the offal then soak chudleys working crunch (£11.50 for 15kgs). I also put flaked maize in with the buiscuts it bulks it up and gives lots of carbohydrate for when the dogs working hard. when offal is scarce the dogs just get working crunch soaked in water with flaked maize. Is also good to give the dogs dry buiscuts or bones once a week to keep thier teeth clean. This is the way i feed my 9 dogs im not saying its the best but
  13. Well im a firm beliver in giving the dog a second chance. I personaly belive the dog should be given the chance another day to try again. Some times you can bore a dog to the extent of it jacking by runing when too young or when not in the right condition of fitness. Thats my opinion mite not be anyone elses dont destroy dogs becase they failed give them a chance to prove themselves.
