  1. Moles are more active then ever since poison was banned. I catch moles, but being as most mole catchers are certificated from the guild of british mole catchers register and done the training, I would not be classed as a "professional" despite years of hands on approach trapping moles. Most mole catchers charge a call out fee - You have to..how are you meant to make any money if you dont? you need to cover your fuel however long the distance is. For farm land, I charge £10.00 per mole caught, with a discount on the second one i catch and so on and so on. I charge for domestic gardens,
  2. I do pest control for a living, take a look at my website, link is below. I know a couple of guys in London who use Rim Fire .305 rifles to take foxes in urban gardens. Likewise, small bore shotguns can be used discreetly. Where a firearm can't be used then trap and take it away to be dispatched. All perfectly legal. The key is that the animal does not suffer and that the dispatch doesn't break the law, i.e. the conditions contained within the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 which stipulates how pests and vermin may be controlled. You can't poison a fox, or gas them. Legal me
  3. Don't shoot a fox with an air rifle - even at close range. Borrow or buy a shotgun an air rifle is in no way a suitable method of dispatch if you get caught doing this you would have to answer questions so to speak. There are codes of practice to be adhered to and shooting a fox with any air rifle is a big no no. Think about when you catch your fox, he will distressed and moving about like crazy - how are you meant to get a decent shot? You certainly wont be able to put the weapon close up to his head just to him being frantic. You should seek professional advice or as i said, visit someone wh
  4. no... then some eejet will either pass it round like hell and others will pay good money for shite or some one will breed from it and pay good money for shite 20p solves the problem You shouldn't be owning dogs. Moron.
  5. Just a quick one guys, You might already know that I am new to the running game (ferreting lad) and I got a few questions. what do you feed your running dogs from pup to adult? Are they fed a bit like fox hounds are, raw meat?

  7. can they be trained to call it off should you think they are gonna go crashing in to something? I can't call my dogs off when they are in chace they go into a trace lol Heard so many horror stories of dogs getting there necks broke or getting serious injuries from running in to things and even running in to roads! is there no way to have it under full control even whilst its running or do they get to much in the moment" to even hear ya? dave slight has is under full control has done for yeers my old man used to go lamping with him and fones him from time to time and he tells us

I think most, and certainly most of the best, dogs, are very much in the zone when on game, especially right up it's arse. And to be fair, l

  11. Your probs not going to like the advice I got earlier then....Been told lurchers are to big for rabbits..
  12. To be honest Rocky, the pure whippets i have seen have been headstrong, independant, fairly tough to train little fuckers. Collie x maybe? been told collie x's are fast but a bit dense when it comes to coursing? found that hard to believe for a collie as I keep them myself. r Whoever called a collie x dense. . . . . .well you want to stop listening to any advice they give mate. (p.s coursing is running hares and is illegal). yes I questioned it...I was thinking maybe they were about the density coming from whatever it was crossed with because it certainly wouldnt be a c

  15. title says it all really, what is the worst/ most common injury your dogs have gotten whilst hunting? I'm only just getting in to hunting with dogs - been a ferreting man for a long time but as I've been reading this praticular forum my interest has grown dramatically so I want to give it a try. Does anyone find that it is more difficult to obtain permission when asking to use dogs on the land for hunting?? what would you class at the best beginer dog for training, agility, turning, retrieval etc.. Thanks in advance guys. Andrew
  16. the person that was hunting on the same position said that hunting rabbits was illegal?? :S
  17. Do you think that's likely? Bolio, good link, had call to complain myself earlier in the year, went through a process called local resolution, never got an apology from the Detective Superintendent concerned but I do feel the complaint was taken seriously and am happy that the officer involved has been spoken to about his behaviour. I could have moaned on here forever and a day about it, but actually doing something made me feel much better. what other reason did they have to take away his lamp? they found that hunting rabbits with dogs was legal and they still took his lamp, for what
  18. sounds like he tuk your lamp mate because you prooved him wrong it happend to me go to the police station ask to see his boss putt a complaint in and lett it rip and ask four your geer back they can not do that its like saying if you had a bag of sweets al take them of you on suspicion of going to eat them ther f*****g idiots and have no clue they think us lampers are all criminals and there for they can do what the f**k they wont its not on well said mate never a truer word spoken
  19. The only reason you had your lamp confiscated was because you made them look like uneducated morons about the law and needed to justifiy the time they spent with you by taking something involved with hunting away. what they gonna do with the lamp? go get it back mate they had no right to take it!!!
  20. I am aware, just wasnt sure on a few things which I'm not gonna go in to. it's called being cautious and I thought someone on the forum could help...silly me eh!
  21. and what does an anti sound like then? I am far from it. jeeez some people on here are proper paranoid. it was a simple question which had been answered.
