  1. Shane I think you are taking things too personal about this topic on this discussion fourm, that's what it is for discussing things and trying to improve our sport. This topic is about defing a whippet not running a club down, people are only making sugestions in an open manor and reading through it carefully with an open mind most are saying the same thing maybe in a different way. 2. i no wat a non ped is and un reg to be honest il put it in a nut shell dogs just not good enough and owners can not face up to it simple as for gog sake a seven year old dog u r talking about ere....we all want the bit of fun a craic not this shit and dont anyone else come on ere tell me hoe to run races..maybe some of the people doing the giving out r not even in a top class club like we ave
  3. Well folks its about time i said my piece lol wasnt going to bother but sure why not. I spent most of the racing day at birr near the starting line for the racing and entry for the racing must say i also thought the classes were going to be kc whippet and un reg whippet but at the line i heard of dogs being entered in "NON PED" classes which is why the eirne dog probably ended up in the race that he did.Even as the dogs lined up on the start line ernie and another dog which had a broken coat realy stood out from the rest but it seems there has been some confusion on the new classes and a littl
  4. Had a great weekend at Birr Castle realy enjoyed the fair some first class lurchers well done lads
  5. A fantastic event well done Mary and everyone involved a first class day very well organised
  6. UTB, Thanks for your post. You obviously feel strongly about this and I respect that. I think it was you who made the suggestion to me about an 'elite class ' for lurcher racing and as you can see we have started to take this on board albeit again in an interim fashion. As you have guessed I put my own viewes in a forthright fashion and I don't mind others putting theirs in a similar manner. BUt I think it is better all round if you decide to criticise something you make a suggestion how to improve it. As I said to Speedy above this is an interim measure for Birr only to see how it goes.
  7. Albert sorry i have tried seveal times tonite to reply to your post but i am having network problems and only getting half of what im tryiny to say up each time and seem to be coming across all wrong and i supose my first post didnt help that much, but the kc registration thing realy upset me as it is something i am realy against but i will go into that later.I have been going to your game fairs for as long as i can rember long before i had working dogs and always give them my support i have no problem with you or them at all. Yes i agree with you that they are second to non in the country and
  8. What a poor opinion you have of your fellow enthusiasts. When you win prize money you can always as I do put it back into the organising club funds. I think good prizes encourages excellence and if I compete , win or lose, I like to compete against the best.
  9. Looks like a lot of thought has went into this NOT!!! such a load of balls, was going to go but not now after reading this. A select few being taken by the hand again and stuff the rest.
  10. Will have to say somthing here, first of all fair play to the girls for giving it a go but there seems to be a massive shortage of judges in this country as it seems to be the same people judging show after show how can be happening. Also with a sport that needs all support it can get from younger generations there was no incouragement for younger participants eg child handling class or special rosettes etc.Just on another note while i am airing my feelings i heard at the ring side talk of some lurcher events running dogs out of traps what is that all about if people want to run dogs from traps
  11. Now that is a challenge to owner of the winner of the whippet racing! Anyone with any sense must realise that Matt or any other racing organisers cannot argue the toss with someone who says his or her dog is a whippet. Size solely doesn't really come into it and in fact may not be any advantage - look at Rose Mc Coy's small dog and China too is no giant. As far as I can see there are three solutions: 1. If challenged, at the show - not anonymously on these forums - the owner should be prepared to meet the challenge by saying how he or she thinks it is a whippet. 2. If he or she
