We ALL can see what you mean !! If you want "Whippet"! only racing, then show your papers !! SIMPLE !!. There are guys like Bob, who race and work there dogs, and enjoy it ! Why can't you guys ????? No, you just must win "Lurcher" racing.. where VERY few actual working Lurchers take part !! As I KEEP saying, why don't you people race your dogs against their peers, out of traps on a real track, instead of racing against LURCHERS who don't have a chance ?? Papers have NO place at working dog shows.I have always worked full pedigree whippets along side my lurchers but i refuse to pay the exploded

What exactly constitutes a 'non-ped' and as was previously asked, who, on the day, stands deciding what is a pedigree whippet (without papers), non-ped whippet, small whippet type, 3/4 grey 1/4 whippet etc? Also, who sorts out the arguments when people dispute the decision? Simplest thing is to have height divisions and anybody with a pedigree whippet who ain't happy can race at whippet racing clubs where only papered whippets are welcome. why would any one want to run a non ped in a whippet race if they had a proper class to run there lurcher in think about it

For Christ sake it's so simple but for some reason no one will try it they keep knocking it back as no one wants to be first to try something different.Anyone that knows me on here will know I hate the word I am about to use.first we have to forget about papers for whippets they won't work race whippets as whippets only, them we must start a class for NON PEDS (racing lurchers) then a under 23 race and an over 23 race then we can think of the novice class as Albert introduced last year which seemed to go well. I can't see why this wouldn't work provided the prizes were kept the same for all cl

You are half [bANNED TEXT] in wat you say mavric it is very hard to tell in a lot of cases if a dog has greyhound blood in it until they run that is, this is why we need a proper class for people with small lurchers then they would not feel the need to race with whippets. Also when whippets were first used for racing and coursing by the miners as a past time they ranged from 18-22 inchs and this was before any kc records were held.I totally agree with you that papers are unreliable and in my opinion have no place at these shows and fairs.

daz can i ask what your goin to race this year mate A non ped whippetxgreyhound. Hopefully she'll stay under 21". At 8 months she is 20 3/4". She was bought to be a wee rabbiting dog and to race at the odd show. Some people will argue that it's a longdog and not a lurcher depending on who's definition you choose as to what a lurcher is. In my opinion anyone who seriously wants to compete at the lurcher racing needs non ped whippet/greyhound blood. Third time lucky lol Dazzam i have tryed a couple of times today to comment here but using my phone and had problems so here goes for

Proper simulated coursing like the rubbers done years ago with a lot more than two turns (tight ones) and different heights of jumps low ones and higher ones and make things interesting instead of going and watching the 7/8 whippet greyhounds running up a straight line give the bedlington crosses and the bull or wheaten crosses a look in for a change -
have you still got this wee jill if so pm me and i will come and get her

Classifying whippets for racing

Yes mate I agree with some of what you are saying but not the bit about the papers a whippet should run with whippets wether it is kc registered or not then another separate race for the small lurchers known as non peds then the under 23 as usual and the over 23 as usual and of course the novice race this was a very good idea at birr would like to see more of it
