  1. My view is the exact same as yours lurchers, everyone goes on about "lines" and worker to worker so just wondering what there preference would be if it was there only option.
  2. If you had to pick a dog what would your first choice be? A dog from two good working parents but not from a line of workers or a dog from non working parents but a good working line?
  3. Great dogs in my opinion and very biddable. I had always fancied one but had the same problem of finding one from working parents. In the end I had to pay £450 for mine as that was the only way as it seems there all round about that price range. It wasn't from working parents but there were workers in the bloodline so I took the chance, brought it up in a hunting environment and put lots of time and effort in and taking it out and letting it see as much as possible and it all payed of when she went to ground at around 14 mnth old on without much coaxing and we dug down to a small vixen. 12. thats alright saying that if you have your small groups to work them in. a club would give people an oppertunity to form there groups with the option of bringing in new blood when needed.
  13. thanks mate, trying to find a decent pair for a decent price
  14. Your right dotty, ok they don't have to be a border owner but obviously they must have an intrest in working them and helping them get noticed as digging/working dogs again or it would just be a terrier club.
  15. how would you go about setting up a club. a club where it was only genuine working borders, where the members can keep in touch with how there dogs are doing and can organise days out with members to show your dogs working and to see others working. i have noticed ( myself included) that because its so hard to find genuine working stuff to own or to breed from that you just take people word for it that there workers and hope for the best. if you seen a number of borders working then you are in the position to pick and choose the dog which attributes best suited you for the next genaration. if

  20. I'm willing to help if I can mate but I am useless with computers aswell. I'm sure there's plenty of workers out there and the best thing is to get the people together who work them. Having a show, working days out with members Borders and getting the opportunity to see Theres work and having the chance to pick top breeding dogs that are available and keeping them between everyone willing to work them.
  21. I did the same mate, might be because of border collie and border terrier. I put in border terriers and it comes up, try that
  22. If I had the time, the contacts and the computer knowledge I would do it. There's a good chance it would bring them back to how they used to be.
