  1. By the sounds of it I would wait a bit mate, iv not got a great experience with deerhounds and I hear there slow at coming on. If you have the patience then hold her off but still get her out watching other dogs on the lamp, you never know it might just click after watching a couple of chases and catches. I hope it comes good for you bud.

  3. Mate years ago I had a lurcher with a bit of deerhound in it, she was just a pup around the same age maybe older when I took her round my mates garden where there was a rabbit in a hutch. She went up and had a sniff, the rabbits back leg started scratching it's ear quickly and the lurcher shit herself and bolted straight out the garden and off! I eventually got a hold of her again and I rightly took some stick for it (I'd do the same) and still do occasionally. When I thought she was mature enough I took her out lamping and she caught her fair share of rabbits but there wasn't much of a drive
  4. Seen a few jackers with this cross, as you said decent lampers and iv heard some are handy with foxes but when it came to daytime hares there was none that were worth talking about from my experience.
  5. For all the guys who own this type of dog what's the most hares your 3/4 has caught in a day pe-ban and how many runs before you had to call it a day? Iv seen a few run them and it is exciting to watch to start but they faded away quite quickThe guys that had them didn't have them peak condition so I was just wondering what the case was for the guys who have got them proper fit. Edited to say during the hunting season.
  6. Been at it a good few years now but much prefer hunting on permission. You can concentrate on the dogs more and hunting than looking over your shoulder all the time or going back to the car and it's been damaged ( which has been regular). Those kind of things put me off a bit but I couldn't give it up because there would always be something missing.

  9. My mind just started wondering today out a walk that's all and was interested in what the cross would b like and if anyone has seen or worked with one but You's are right tho there is no need to cross them. Just a thought lads
  10. Just wondering if there were any first crosses being used and how they faired, only worker to worker to.
  11. Anyone owned, seen working or heard anything about this type of cross? I was just having a think today out mooching that it would make quite a handy dog for flushing for the lurchers and gun.

After the other night i was to hard in the dog, there was alot for the dog to take in on it's first night ratting with strange dogs, scents, people and noises and I need more patience. Looking forward to getting back at them this week now shes killed a couple and had a couple nips Atb

No doubt itl portay us as sick blood thirsty thugs, then after the programe we'll go to take the dogs out a walk and theyl b peeking out there blinds and tarring us all with the same brush. think il b expecting a few knocks at the door.
  17. I'm intrested in this subject as there's plenty on getting running dogs fit but not alot On how terriermen get there dogs ready for a hard season.
