  1. You may aswell get one, even though they do cost alot. You can always sell the finder if you dont enjoy ferreting as they dont really drop in price.
  2. My mates got one. Personaly wouldnt get a first cross but beddy/whippet/greyhound are awesome
  3. from waste ground/verges and uncultivated allotments. It is a perrenial and dies off in the winter.Pick a few bags in the autum and freeze them in groups of 6 .We used to take a bag out with us and use it as required or throw it away. Now i know this sounds like pure crap .B i have seen some serious reactions on running dogs particulary thin coated greyhounds ,that have been in the nettle beds. Yeah, thats the thing shes only got a really thin coat and she goes mental after being stung.
  4. Haha. Will have to see if I can find some of that in the garden
  5. Where can you get Rumex patientia?
  6. Does anyone know a good cure or prevention for nettle stings? Even though I avoid the nettles if I can, but my dog still comes back with lots of stings and doesn't settle for hours. Cheers
  7. Just wondering if there is anyone from the Louth area and wanted to come out ferreting or lamping, maybe in return for a day out?
  8. Try scolding some pellets with hot water then adding sweetcorn, hemp and some white crumb until you get the right consistency.
  9. I'm not far down the road from Lincoln
  10. The best thing to do is to approach the local farmers and ask them directly. You don't very often get turned down....
  11. worth a try tho [bANNED TEXT], u never know Maybe find another member from Leicestershire and trade a day out?? Offer them a days ferreting or whatever in return for the same on some of their land.....
  12. You also need to get the nets and of course, The Locator. The Deben MK III is probably the best and only locator out there. Unless you want to risk losing your ferret, the collar and locator are an important piece of kit. However, the price of a new locator and 2 collars will set you back about £200.
  13. This is a good point, its one of the important things for me when I choose a camera, as I am totally wildlife, I have two cameras at the moment, and both have the capability of 8 fps..mind you, Ive had camera with less and got some decent shots.. Yeh it can make a massive difference. You might get one really good picture just out of pure luck by having it on continuos shooting, a picture you probably wouldn't have got using single shot.
  14. I know that its expensive, but James Wellbeloved is a fantastic food that is brilliant for their teeth, bones, skin, and coat. Been on it for a few years and couldn't ask for a better dry food.
  15. Not all lurchers are massive. I've got a beddy/whippet/greyhound and shes about 20" TTS. But she's the best dog ever, brilliant all rounder. Use her for ferreting and lamping, and she doesnt miss many whatever the ground is like!
  16. The Jackie Drakeford book on Working Lurchers is very good (as mentioned) and I would also agree that the Purdeys Progress DVD is brilliant.
  17. Most of the time Del its so they can brag to their mates when they're sharing their 3 litres of paint-stripper! Haha
