  1. I was recently living in Northumberland, some real top class working dogs and dedicated lurchermen I was lucky enough to become aquainted with. Beautiful rolling hills with lots to chase The bitch must have been a special one, did she ever produce any pups to follow in her footsteps. Also, its one thing having seen or owned one of these outstanding animals, but in many cases even the best for one reason or another, dont have such a long and prosperous career as the bitch you mentioned, be it injury, ailment, or simply burning out around 7/8 years, which makes the mentioned bitch Bes all
  2. Sounds a good one mate, and from what Ive seen, the cross between the coursing dog and the bully greys make very handy animals
  3. Before I moved out here to England, the dog I held in highest regard was a friends Bully/cattle/stag X Stag, that dog could stop any pig, and also catch rabbit, hare, fox, roo's, fallow and the odd red deer. He was a fast and powerful dog that could always produce the goods, a reliable and trustworthy comrade. However I think Ive seen one to (dare I say) match that great Aussie dog. It is a line bred half bull/greyhound, and is one hell of a machine! He is past his best by all accounts but the dog wouldnt let ya believe it! I like my big game hunting, pigs/boar especially, so I favour dogs cap
  4. Plenty of pit cross and english cross' in Australia mate, Id go for the one that would suit your needs best, look at the stud and choose wisely, what will the dog (and his breeding line) add to your grey bitch? Are you running pigs, fox's, dingo, roo's? Maybe look at a piggin dog as a stud, bully type cross? Good luck mate All the best Tusker
  5. you right mate regards the work of the bullx , but what i was saying is some of the bullxs temps, might not be as good as the temps of the stags regards dogs+people. I dont think ive ever heard of bad temps in long dogs like you hear in some bullx lines. As i said any dog can go bad, but some seem to more than others.? A bad dog is a bad dog and should be culled, breding should take temperament into account to reduce the chance of these occuring. Some of the steadiest dogs ive seen were pure pitbulls thats the gods honest truth mate. Ive also seen stags and many oher dogs that have kille
  6. Stags are just old school mongralised longdogs, with roots to UK. You guys dont need to consider foreign blood, you have it all here already. I haven't been in the UK long, but Ive seen dogs that are capable at their jobs here and you couldnt ask for more than that, right? A good bull cross would last longer than any stag for dangerous game on a regular basis. All the best Tusker
  7. G'day mate, you made me laugh! Not everyone has dogs in the same league as yours! All the best Tusker
  8. Haha great comments there folks, thats good to read! Im based in England for the long term, so there will be plenty more in store for me thats for sure, even though I feel like its been a kind of holiday, so far! It is just such a good feeling to look back on leaving Australia, with doubts, and uncertainties, about both hunting and work etc, but now im happy as a pig in shit! Im even aquiring a couple of pups this summer, so I'll be 'all guns blazing' soon enough!! All the best Tusker

  11. Before I moved to Europe from Australia last year, I was worried about leaving behind the great outdoors, and great hunting, and living in an overcrowded place with no freedom to hunt and escape work. But I shouldnt have worried too much! I started off in Sussex and after a lot of walking found a great variety of wildlife. I eventually got to know various people in the area, and managed to tag along on a few hunting trips, mainly with rifle and shotgun for small game. I missed pigging with the dogs and this was never more apparent than when we saw Wild Boar crashing through the blackberry. I l
