  1. and a fine looking bitch where i come from they call that cross a 'bull and fox'. Thanks! Are there many dogs crossed like that over there? here an EBT cross is scarce.
  2. here are a few shots of the back. if anyone has any info on this plate, the artist, or the dog pictured on it, i'm very interested. thanks
  3. nice looking gyp, I imagine she'll be unstoppable at two or three years old!
  4. The avatar pic is of one of my females, Darby. Her sire is a Jack Russell, and her dam was an English Bull Terrier. She's a beast! Normally I keep her around 25 lbs., but in the pic she's at a mean 22
  5. the back of the plate is stamped in black CAULDON with England written smaller underneath. there is also a large stamped black 6. Finally, in red it says L 6742 B the dog sure has some ragged ears. Looks like a worker. I wonder if it's a specific dog or more of a generalization?
  6. I collect dog related antiques, and my wife surprised me with this antique dog plate. the back is marked Cauldon England and the front is artist signed G. Pedersen. I guess it's around 100 years old.
  7. Great pics and nice dogs! keepa looks like a neat little dog.
  8. Sounds good if they're all workers, but you might consider breeding her back to either a patt or a border rather than introducing a third type (russell). The 3/4, 1/4 cross is a proven breeding pattern that will produce the 3/4 side consistently with the 1/4 out to spice things up. So, if you bred the Patterdale/Border back to a patterdale for example- you'd have 3/4 patterdale and 1/4 Border. Or if you bred her to a Border you'd have 3/4 Border 1/4 Patterdale. This way you'll get more consistency. JMO
  9. What's with the merle? Adding the Merle coloration to a line of working dogs seems counter-productive. You're not just adding the "cool looking" coloration- merles are plagued with genetic defects.
  10. or a nail Either way it's not the right tool for the job
  11. It is possible to drive a screw with a hammer, but you're better off with a screw-driver.
  12. I think a breed, type, or even a strain, is pure when it breeds true to type for whatever the breeder sets as his ideal. I also don't think you can say it takes x number of generations to get a pure line. While one breeder may advance a line or breed very fast using quality animals and making informed breeding decisions- others may breed for years-a lifetime even, and make little to no improvement to their line/breed. So, there are too many variables to say purity can be had in a certain # of generations. Some people are constantly advancing, while others may be doing the same dumb shit for ye
  13. thats 1 of the nicest dogs i have seen has she seen much mate? thanks a lot, she's a great locator, and she's caught a little of everything since I got her last spring. All above ground- barns, abandoned houses, culverts, brush piles, etc. she's a beast!
  14. I've posted pics of her before, but here's my JRT X EBT bitch Darby. two years old and 22 pounds
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Reese, there seem to be a few fanciers in oklahoma too
  16. great looking dogs. the black and tan had A LOT more black on it's head as a pup, eh?
  17. yesterday I took her to a nearby lake and she killed a 'possum. took her back today and my wife brought a camera but we didn't catch a thing. still took some pics though. ^The END
  18. she's not spannable, and really too big for most earths, but she's good for culverts, barns, abandoned houses, brush piles, etc. as far as what she hunts- anything unlucky enough to get caught
  19. Yeah, the dam was a show bred EBT that was given to some hog hunters because she didn't show well- "too terrier in type and overly dog agressive" Her sire is JRT from working lines, but I've no idea of the bloodlines
  20. I think he said Bull X Russell mate yeah, her dam was an English Bull Terrier that was eventually killed on hog hunt in Arkansas, and her sire is a little Jack Russell. My bitch is as crazy as they come, and if it moves- she wonders what it tastes like A very easy bitch to work
  21. The problem isn't the uninformed pet-owners or the dogs; the problem is the breeder that should know better, selling to pet homes to make money. JMHO
