  1. paired names that rhymm sound good too, like skinny jenny, mean jean, etc
  2. I accidently hit reply before I was finished... I don't see how adding a touch of beagle helps a staffy @ it's job. BUT, add a touch of staffy to a beagle on the other hand... I bet those would be some of the hardest assed rabbit yappers out there lol
  3. You had good ones that couldn't move well!? I'd say those do not fall under the "good" category at all...
  4. Thanks guys and Yeah, that's the same bitch from the other thread. Just a newer pic. I haven't noticed any peculiar gait, but I have noticed peculiar biting power... There's a half brother to my bitch that's full jack russell without the ebt cross, and he's nice. I think I'll breed her in a year or so to a nice little working terrier stud and get some 3/4 terrier 1/4 bulls. Those could be a nice size for my area, and well built too.
  5. Here's my 1/2 cross. I like her. She's a hard worker.
  6. Jeez! I saw some opinions and observations, but no advice. I do have some advice for you though cornsnaggler- don't be so rude. Hahaha!!! I like reading about other peoples thoughts on different working styles, etc. It's all good.
  7. Bravery is having no fear. Courage is facing your fears. A brave dog will smash into quarry without thought. A courageous dog will be aware of the danger it's in and face it's quarry with a more methodical, level headed approach. I like both, but the courageous dog gets more fur and sustains less injury and that's a fact.
  8. Edit to add "clouding misconceptions" LOLOL
  9. Main attraction! you crack me up. First you assign yourself the role of "teacher"- passing out grades and everything! Then you talk about huntin' up dinner... C'mon man, are you eatin those coons!?!? Hahahaha. Just f*****g with you man. but seriously, who wouldn't rather be out hunting than sittin at home pickin scabs off a wrecked dog. I can appreciate all styles of terrierwork, as well as the infinite # of scenarios, but personally when I go out I always hope for a bolt. This is the only way to take large #'s of game with minimal injury to the dog. That to me is the best case scenario. Maybe
  10. I use a nylon bull whip lengthened with a bit of string and then hide tied to the end as a flirt pole. The whips are about $8 here.
  11. I have probably spent hundreds of hrs running dogs along a bike and I like a 26" cruiser style bike with the swept back handle bars and coaster brakes (pedal brakes). That way you can slow down or stop hands free. This style bike and handle bars are such that the rider is sitting very upright which makes it easier to control the dog. I hold the dog at my side making sure there's NOT enough slack in the leash for the dog to run across the front of the bike- causing a wipeout! I like to go slow and make sure they're empty and then alternate between sprints and jogs. Sprint 'em until their heart
  12. I like the flirtpole, springpole, bike, and A-frame. Flirtpole is really good for developing coordination and athleticism, and not bad for wind too. Springpole really works their legs, back, neck, and bite. Biking is for developing wind and endurance, and has similar affects to freerunning, treadmill, etc. One thing I'd keep an eye on- at least at first- are Busta's feet. I have had more problems with pink feet than black ones as far as injuries to the pads. Just let him play/work and you'll find that those excercises will bring out his inner BEAST! I wouldn't take it too seriously- just hav
  13. That's pretty neat! What ever happened to the hide?
  14. flashy looking pup. how's it bred?
  15. thanks for that i get the drift ,so the sire was 1/2 pat 1/2 laky and dam pure pat so that will make my pup 3/4 pat 1/4 laky is that right
  16. If continuously bred back to patts the subsequent generations would be like this (P being patts, and L being lakies) 1st gen is 1/2P, 1/2L or 50%P, 50%L 2nd gen is 3/4P, 1/4L or 75%P, 25%L 3rd gen is 7/8P, 1/8L or 87.5%P, 12.5%L 4th gen is 15/16P, 1/16L or 93.75%P, 6.25%L 5th gen is 31/32P, 1/32L or 96.875%P, 3.125%L 6th gen is 63/64P, 1/64L or 98.4375%P, 1.5625%L edited to add percentages
