Going again Friday, weather permitting. Gonna catch one then................

I just don't get the whole hair rig/boilie/pellet thing. The bait isn't on the hook FFS. A bait IMHO, should actually be on the hook, not dangling below it. It just doesn't look right.

...........And on the method. Thats not right either.

Fu*k Off!!

Used the GB but not the boilies. Didn't think it smelt of much so didn't use it again. Bought some other GB from Hinders. TBH, I struggle with the idea that a fish sees a small, round hard object as food, I really do, and, It's not even on the hook ffs. How does that work ?? Effing boilies........

Fu*k boilies, fu*k Barbel. I'm off to catch some tame Carp at a Commercial.? Not!!

You calmed down yet?? Lol ..............No!!

Home now after an horrendous detour because the A50 was shut. No fish again, although the guy I spoke with had one. It's getting that bad now I can see myself having to ask Walshie what to do

Have you tried fishing at the back end of fast water where it starts to drop off in to deeper water . Ive always done better in well oxygenated faster water in summer rather than the slower moving deeper pegs . Dont know if you have any pegs like that on your stretch but if you have its well worth fishing them and ingnoring where most of the other anglers fish The Dove is a funny river. Most of the big Barbel are in one stretch, most of the fishing gets done in this stretch. There are some faster swims with streamer weed in them. They don't seem to be fished very often. One or two drop

Tonight's swim. One I've never fished before. Lots of streamer weed about. Dynamites Crab and Garlic boilie done the inside, with (something a bit different for me) luncheon meat across. Fed 6/7 loose offerings on each line.

£130 for the pair off the Bay. The 2lbs TC is a seprate top. I use the quiver top with the 6oz tip in it. They come with two tops and 3-4-6oz tips. Pretty forgiving TBH. I also fish the Trent, so sometimes a big chuck with a heavy feeder is needed.

They're Greys Prodigy Barbel rods. 2lbs test curve, a bit OTT for the size of the river, but the Barbel run to 18lbs (Not that i'd ever know) and some of the swims are very weedy and a bit tight, so you need to pull back a bit when you get one. (So i've been told)

I've got a couple bottles of Whisky. We can use one for the coin toss and the other can go in for the raffle/auction. -

If someone has a BBQ and can bring it, all well and good. If not, i'll get one. ........Stuff the Dove, although we may fish the Soar. Easier to get to and to get day tickets for. -

Right. Apologies for the little posting i've done on this topic. but it's be hectic here. Apart from a few trips out on the river after work, we've been snowed under. Our one and only offspring has left home and moved into her first house. They (The retard she's hooked up with and her) signed up to buy a brand new house back in December 2014. After one or two false starts, they finally moved in in early June. Unfortunately, the problems still kept coming, namely the builders fitting the wrong kitchen. This wasn't spotted untill they moved in. So, the whole kitchen had to be changed two wee -
If you're going to handcuff him to someone, handcuff them together with the same hand. IE: Right to right, or left ot left. That way one of them has to have the others arm across them all the while. Or they'll have to stand back to back the rest of the time.

A day on the river Dove it is then............. Off to check out our venue tomorrow, have a word with Rita, sort out one or two things regarding the charity weekend. Oh, and somehow my fishing kit has managed, along with some bait, to make it's way into the back of the car. So it would be a shame not to get some info on Gils lake for all the people fishing our match whilst i'm there, wouldn't it ?? -
Don't be silly. Done as in gone home. Done as in pis#ed off. Done as in can't catch. That sort of done. No fish...........Again.

The Witching hour approachs. Or, the Coffees all gone and I'm off...............

The Pump house peg. Possibly the most well known swim on the BMAA stretch of the Dove. Home to the bigger Barbel in the river. I think the river record came from here earlier this year. 17lbs odd. GB feeder straight out in front. Some sort of Boilie down stream to my left.
