  1. had this problem originaly too,got told this method- pull bolt right back, still holding bolt, squeeze trigger to decock action, slide bolt home, now safe. has same effect as breaking a springer and holding the barrel to decock.
  2. a freind of mine used an old cement mixer, worked well for large quantity.
  3. better with a 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhound and choose a bitch pup.
  4. seen this dogs mother, genuine working deerhound bitch. mother 28" at shoulder.
  5. Ican agree with wildfowler i know the breeder jock as well ,well bred good type, doxhope seen the mother too a couple of year ago, if you looking for good quality working type deerhound you cany go wrong or as base blood to start a genuine working strain of deerhound cross lurcher. dont want to get embroiled in the argument but dont like to see a potential top class 'working' type deerhound that could be the basis of 1st class deerhound lurcher cross getting a bum deal. a steal for someone!
  6. fabric camo tape on my tube solved this looseness/ratling, gave a solid feel again.
  7. use hills pump to fill s200 takes 5-10 minutes including bleeding 2-3 times and i dont have arms like arnie, but my 12 year old son struggles a bit.

    got your mess cheers

  9. used to lamp rabbit up perthshire,i used collie greys my mate used whippet greys, beddie whippet and beddie whippet greys, i had 2 dogs over about 12 years i think my mate had a dozen whippet cross variations and spectacular as some were they only lasted a season or 2 because of big bags and in the 80s-90s perthshire was heaving with bags of 40 - 50+ a night possible,so agree with SJM IF LAMPING LOCAL GOLF COURSE AND SEMI URBAN LAMPING WITH MODEST BAGS WHIPPET CROSSES DEFINATELY THE HIGH PERFORMANCE CHOICE BUT IF IN HEAVY HILL COUNTRY COLLIE CROSS FOR ME,INFACT LOCAL TRAVELLERS THE STEWARTS USE
  10. proven worker to proven worker and you cant go wrong,my current dog 3/8 collie (beardie/border) 5/8 grey is exceptionally fast and ive had a few collie crosses- 1/4 border 3/4 greyhounds that had bags of stamina but were as slow as some first crosses also front feet a bit suspect as identical foot injuries reapearing with almost identical bred litters. dont know yet as my 3/8 5/8 only 14 month and untested but hes as big or bigger (27") than some 3/4 breds and as fast or faster than the border 3/4 crosses av had in past and got great feet.
  11. NEED LIGHTER MORNINGS IN SCOTLAND OR MORE KIDS GET KILLED GOING TO SCHOOL,STAYED UP NORTH FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND ONLY GOT A COUPLE OF HOURS OR GREY DAYLIGHT BEFORE DARKNESS ARIVED AND IN A REAL RURAL AREA WITH NO DISTANT CITY GLOW IN THE SKY ITS FECKIN DARK.........NICE ONE DITCH!
  12. NICE SITE,BUT PAGE RENDERING A LITTLE SLOW TAKES A WHILE TO OPEN A PAGE ON MY PC,DONT MEAN TO CRITISIZE BUT ALSO DESIGNING A WEB SITE AND HAD TO CONVERT ALL MY PICTURES TO ANOTHER FORMAT TO GET FASTER BROWSING,LOOKS AN INTERESTING SITE THOUGH,GOOD LUCK WITH IT.
  13. putting this up for a neebour, whose transport only offers to a pick up in scotland. and its true collie crosses hard to find without travelling, planning another pup meself next year, got a 3/8 5/8 beardie/border type good compromise for the fields in fife but still got the feet to face the "hill" , and the heart for 30-40 rabbits lamping up perthshire as any fifers on here will agree is a wee bit rough, anyway cheers for replying.
  14. collie cross prefered , central scotland area , good home waiting.

  17. shadow of its former self = shooting news/poaching news, but dont beleive plummer was the reason for its demise, think they tried to make it more respectable!
  18. some are annoyingly nervy and patience is the only way,get the dog out as much as you can take it everywhere with you, and I can say from personal experience with a first cross beardie cross that had a nervous disposition as a pup till about 18 months ,that became a first class lamper(rabbits) and determined fox dog. be patient and fair and you will get your reward. persevere.
  19. exellent advise above, had this problem a couple of months ago with my collie cross, mainly puting nose down and switching his ears off,but yes recall training is a must first, and the dog will eventualy learn to come back quick as it sinks in that he needs to use the lamp.

    A Scary Few Moments

reminds me of a nights poaching in my youth, poaching local estate at about 2 o clock ,wet wild night ideal for "tree chickens" ,anyway ma neebours all talkin aboot keepers new night dog gsd/bullmastiff alegedly feckin ferocious man catchin ,crotch holding heavyweight, phew! and not only that there had been about 3 recent sighting of the fife big cat suposed to be a black panther! these three sightings if you joined the locations up on a map made a big triangle round the estate in which i was now standing with little a 22 an a pocket of subs ,already on edge cause i was now standin on the most
  21. had this before, dogs in hot weather lying on concrete run to keep cool, but if not sure locate a sheep fank and dip him from the neck down should save vet from charging a fortune
