    i agree with most of that snoop except i think a good hare in a small field can be very difficult, say it wants to get in hedge and dog boxing it off one mistake bye bye, and they can be very tricky in smaller fields especially in winter make the dog loose abit of ground and drop down for nearest cover and usually abit or them to head for. i think it dont just take a fast dog to kill hares consistant in winter on small land they gotta be boxy as well and there very hard to find.

    a friend was telling me the other day he used to run a place on the fens were they were small but could really run, when he first went there one jumped he thought was a leveret but he didnt think it 4/5 mins later Ido you remember that one your black bitch ran on that old airfield ?? It might have just been me but that one looked smaller than average but it ran well, yeah and that was dead winter, they allways fly on them airfields its bald like astro turf were we were then

    i was on some land last year 2 days after christmas and as i was walking it i could see 3 or 4 different footprints going across field, it gets run regular and they were the best hares i seen last year, fitchet seen the land im talking about big flat fields. hare come out there seats like rockets and allways head or a electric yard near by. takes a good dog to stop them there. they no exactly what to do.....

    might just be me then, i remember my grandad saying that they were good hares on the salisbury planes not just because of coursers but because they were all ways on the move cause army was all ways on the land.

    i found out a couple of old pics of my grandad in with two hares, must have been 30 years ago. ill try to get pictures up later, what im getting at is the size of the hares in picture and it looks as if early season but they were massive look over 2ft streched out... it was before my time but has anyone noticed a change in size over the years to now, they looked alot healthier as well. like to no what you all think???

    unless there running behind a car walking winter plough takes a fit man or any land thats heavy going, boots weigh a ton, felt like jacking myself a few times

    i think 15 mph to quick at that distant moocher, 8 to 10 mph plenty over six miles. you can damage a young dog with 2 much on tarmac cause no give under foot especially at that speed

    ive jogged mine next to bike and vehicle, i find car the best as you can see what speed and distant you done. i dont allways use tarmac sometimes byways as well especially with young dogs because i think to much on tarmac can damage them long term. its hard on bike especially if a cat runs out in front of you trust me i no, could damage dog or your self lol. ive just got a double dog walker now though so should be abit easier, will mix it up though and still jog em out of motor. i think free running good on open land as well, when there sprinting ect.
