  1. It has to hare for me although rabbit on a golf course comes a close second
  2. Have sold a lot of pups over the years quite a lot go to farms as workers for sheep cattle and guarding, one old boy come from Bala about eight years ago bought a pup to replaced one he just lost that was rough coated picked it up as a stray ,He says it would stay out all night with the flock lambing outside in tempratures of minus 5 in the four years he had him never lost a lamb to fox or anything else yet neighbours were loosing quite heavilly to foxes
  3. Wouldnt touch anything that has show breeding mostly go for white or long coated ,amongst other things of course
  4. Nil to be honest I try to discourage them from hunting anything other than sheep and cattle,as it can be a pain in the ass whenn you are trying to gather a flock and the dog knocks a hare rabbit or fox up and takes of after it especially on open hill like the brecon beacons. Try and leave the hunting to the German Shepherds or terrier. We had a bitch once grandmother of one of the bitches in the photo she was mad for squirells and hares, her catch ratio was she caught two hares in the seat and retreived them to hand eleven squirells and she killed every cat that walked on to the farm yard
  5. Are you bringing a dog with you and what is it you enjoy most about a game fair
  6. To be honest would never sell a dog on this is a bad trait but so long as the dog caught what it was after thats the main thing. Back to the original question what do you think causes it
  7. Use airgun for my business it has got to have it all just replaced my Daystate it is over 20 years old bought the new daystate Air ranger if you want consistent accuracy it has got to be daystate Precharged are far superior accuracy wise I totally agree with you, Daystete are a hell of a rifle. Nearly bought the Air Wolf just before Xmas, but had the opportunity to purchase a "full on" Anschutz for about a third of it's build price and bought that. As for precharged accuracy, have you ever used the V-Mach Air Arms Pro-Sport springer? I had a shock , I can tell you. One of the best
  8. Did the injuries occur during the day or night Had a whippet x Beddie take him during the day Once out of ten he would end up in the vets fantastic dog though Take him out at night not a scratch and he would catch anything except deer never had the opportunity
  9. My thoughts are that what I have seen is that the dog has been started to early on hard to catch rabbits, and I think it is a whine of frustration,I try and start mine minmum of twelve months on lamping rabbits with an easy couple of catches to start like all things dogs on a bit of confidence
  10. Reading one of the topics made we wonder what are everyones thoughts on this trait never owned a dog thats done it but have seen a dog do it pain in the ass didnt catch the rabbit neither
  11. Currently using Night vision sights on my Remmington semi auto.22 Very pleased with the results bought them from the soviet bazaar or Hebredean tech house as they are now known Have also CZ bruno .17 use for daywork and just bought the daystate air ranger looking at the new night vision scope attachment which means you dont have to have a dedicated rifle for NV has anyone got one or tried one what are they like ??????????

  13. As a professional pest controler I am dealing with mostly rats and rabbits during the day ,for that type of work it has to be a beddlington whippet or similar dog. There again I love lamping the land We own and I have permission on feilds that can vary in size from 5 acres to 50 with all sorts of quarry unfortunately because of the ban When much GSD X Greyhound pup starts woking in about 12 months the only thing I will be looking to take will be rabbits. I think there is a lot to gain from owning two lurchers one over one under depending on the ammount of work you got.
  14. because they are not recognised hunting dogs as such dont get no bother from Joe public Not a bad thing in the current climate This is Ice a wolf in sheeps clothing so to speak
  15. Ours will go through any cover particulary when they use to hunt charlie they are mad for it, and because they are not recognised hunting dogs as such dont get no bother from Joe public just doing a bit of security work
  16. Nice Type bitch WH you need what needs to be done before you even contemplate breeding her first of all get her fit,Then get her hips checked, unfortunately you do not know her parents I go back as far as I can before contemplating breeding. It is great to see good working shephards not sloping back orange coloured skinny boned show champions if you looking for hip displacia start there. Just weighed our pups and they are coming in at two kilos at Two weeks Two are booked already with a possible third.
  17. We have for sale sheepdog pups Sire working beardie Bitch Border collie Both come from exceptionall working stock we even have the grandfather still going strong at thirteen Two dogs Three bitches wormed at two weeks four weeks and eight weeks One dog and one bitch has already been booked £50.00 dogs and bitches
  18. Someone wrote in recently about working pure collies Here is some of our farm collies waiting for the terrier to bolt a rabbit This was an accidental hunt as I try not to encourage the collies to hunt rabbits as they will not concentrate on sheep work
  19. Here is the stud dog I used Dine Daw Lad prolific winner and Stud not only does the business but breeds it to his son and daughter won the racing at our show last year his son raced against a 400cc racing quad over 100 metres and beat it
  20. Had a Bedlington Whippet once called scobby he would come to the chinese with me after i had been on the piss I would walk back home through all the elements fall asleep in front of the telly and the thieving B std would eat the lot I would wake up in the morning with a raving hangover and he would be asleep on the rug looking like a big tub of lard Good thread brings back brilliant memories of a true warrior Scooby
  21. some truth in that mate but dont forget the border/rough collies wernt bred to keep wolves and bears away from the flock We work four Border collies and five beardie collies on the farm to be honest all dogs have got their good and bad points including GSD But for what I want this cross should do the business Here is some of our beardie Rock and Laddie ready to go to work
  22. Nice cross Belgian shepherd what else did you use Steve Barton has another GSD first cross it is a about twelvemonths I think it is a stunner he writes on EDRD as Germhound
  23. Look for the pup that is first to come to you Then look at his condition of his coat nice and shiny His eyes hould have a nice sparkle Allow plenty of time to spend with the litter you will see the different characters The problem I have with all the litters of German Shepherds I have bred is as soon as someone comes to see them they are as bold as brass they all come to the front to greet and play I try to spend as much time with my litters as possible and as soon as their eyes open they are fed a variety with fresh bones daily to snack on
  24. That one on the left looks old Korbelbach/Barenfang blood. Nice looking dogs. Been breeding GSD for a while now because I dont touch show stuff only long coated white or black you cant show them backs are nice and flat stong boned highly inteligent racy type. Steve Bartons dogs are a fine example of GSD X Greyhound inspired me to breed my White bitch who has a fantastic nose turn of speed and strike
