  8. To be honest mate I think she is ready , she has a vary strong pray drive , is fast and vary capable of catching just her regress with her retrieve letting her down , I respect your opinion but manny seem to have success starting at this age , if she doesn't take to it tho I would giv her time to come on before taking her again
  9. tho only thing i am worried about is that if i take her out now with her retrieve like this i will reinforce the not retrieving every time she does it , and ill be standing there like a arse while she runs round like and idiot scaring every thing away lol , i have taken her out ferreting and she caught a couple of boulters well , good speed and catch just need to nail this retrieve again
  10. hi all , over the last 2 months my lurchers retrieve has gone completely shite , not retrieving at all ,she is my first lurcher and this has really pissed me of as i have done retrieving work with her from vary early on and she has been prity good , she is about 11 months old now , i cant blame the dog as over the last monh or 2 i have been a bit pre occupied with moving house so put it down to this and adolescence's. because of this i have been reluctant to take the dog out ferreting or her first time lamping as the 2 rabbits she has caought i had to go get my self which to be honest was
  11. mine sleep on the coals  shredded paper
  12. i think that she prob could do fine thro the winter without the heat lamp provided she is dry etc , but want it there so it can go on when needs be, like i said put it on last night to test it out and she didnt bother just went in her sleeping box as normal just out of interest what do you lot use as bedding for your dogs and how often do you need change it i got a quilt in for mine , do any of you use natural bedding hay etc and do you put it deep so they can bury into it or just couple of inches ?
  13. the bulb i got is a energy saving 175w and it says its the inequivalent to a normal 250w , wount be using the lamp much its there if i need it , the dog is quite happy in her box for now any way
  14. what wattage lamps do you lot use , my heat lamp came today 175w infra-red , and that doesnt seem to put out much heat either got it just under a meter over the dog bed ive put under it and i cant say there much heat reaching where the dogs would be laying , think they have gone back in the sleeping box any way lol for it to feel warm it would have to be prity close i think
  15. is it really such a hardship tho to fork out 20 quid for a little heater and plug it in ?, give them a little bit more comfort thro the winter months , when you are asking them to give their all in the field think its the least you can do my self
  16. Nice dogs lads , do they have the size to be single handed dogs , or is it a bit of a battle ?

  20. i had a problem with my pup passing blood also , i was advised that it may be colitus , and was also told to starve the pup for one day , then feed plain boiled rice and plain boiled chicken , with some natural pro biotic yoghurt added for the first few days , work a treat for my pup she was on the rice and chicken for a few weeks and was then slowly back on her normal food
