    a very good point, I can not see how any one would put terrier cross and collie cross in the one class there should be a bull cross class and there should be no further pandering too bsl it does not apply and never will, terrier cross class for wheaten, irish and bedlington cross terriers, the collie crosses should have their own class too, I have also for some time thought there should be a purpose bred racing class for the lurchers that are bred for sheer speed under racings condtions not being divisive or derogatory but many are now specialised for this task alone.     No - we work with all the major organisations in Ireland including NARGC, FISSTA, CAI - all of who have many more members than BASCNI, so to be fair to all organisations ( and these organisations all make a more major contribution to our fairs than BASCNI) we took the decision to help all the organisations( including BASC) by subsidising their stands and let them subsidise their members. We did offer a FREE ticket to Shanes Castle to everyone who purchased a ticket at the Ballywalter Fair - again we thought that this was a fairer way to make a gesture to the whole field sports community

I have little interest in showing terriers or the judging of them but I will say the Lurcher judge at Moira was clearly a proper lurcher man and he placed my bitch 2nd and 3rd in two classes he was very careful in his checking of her and noticed some details many would have overlooked I say I will have her in top order for the next show and she should make the final.     was down in the feild last night and is in great running order now,so racing should be great give it dry on sunday so hope that stays the case and i see yous there. I hope there are plenty of ferrets. Not breeding any this year wont be the same if I dont get my fingers munched in summer time.

    Not long now to the show wonder will it be torrential rain of burning sunshine either way not to big a deal as both years were just as good. Bit of rain to soften the ground would not be a bad thing for the big diggers

    This was my first trip to Ballywalter since it has been taken over by albert j and his company and the lurcher and terrier events run by the mid antrim club I wont be back. The number of classes was ridiculous ladies class and gentlemens class no credibility and the show went on far too long this needs to change, the basic classes at any lurcher show are sufficent to produce a show winner, and the racing early in the morning is also a good idea, the location is somewhat improved from when it used to be squashed in front of the big house but the race track is far too shortI had to leave before

    I would like to bring to the attention of any lurcher men in Northern Ireland or close to the border I replied to this advert on Gum tree a few weeks back I expressed an interest in rehoming the bitch nad had a number of e mails to and from the advertiser. It has come to my attention that the advert is bogus and may be a wind up or something more sinister for example an anti hunting group or individual gathering information the image used in the advert is taken from google images and the seller kept trying to introduced the hunting of unlawful or protected quarry into the corespondence even

It will suit the under 23 but not the over I would have thought a 250 yards race would have been a better choice.
