  2. it all depends mate let your puppy be a puppy for as long as possible, i made this mistake once and boy did i leanr by it, by entering a pup too early, they'll either take a nip and shit themselves and not want to work to ground or in my case go totally the other way, your dog'll go fox daft smashing into its quarry and coming out of a dig needing a good 2 weeks rest to heal which is the last thing you need as the season only lasts so long, best of luck with your terrier mate, theres no rush to enter your dog let it enter on its own accord. hope i've helped cheers ryan
  3. my young pup used to do it but hes grew out of it now i think its just excitement or maybe nervousness, is she deliberately wee'ing or is it just coming out, if it is don't be hard on her because it mabe something she cant control that'll just make her worse, whats the pup like is she hyper or anything like that ?

  7. do people work streight pedigree sealyham or cross breeds because my uncle had a few russel x sealyham and i've seen old pictures of him digging badger with them back when it was legal and put it this way they from tales hes told me and of old pictures they seem quite the keen worker, but that was then when things were different, he's been out the intrest of keeping terriers for donkey's years now thats why i've submitted this post, to hear other peaples knowledge on them, i'm in the north east and will be looking for a new little terrier once the rest of my kennel is built just doing dome ho
  8. alright, i was having a few pints with my uncle on Sunday and he was telling me about his Sealyham x Russell's he used to keep back in the late 's - early 90's, he claims they they were hardy, reliable and all round corking little dogs, just wanting to learn a little bit more about them and i was wondering if there is any of these kicking about these days hopefully some of you can help me. cheers ryan

  11. I agree with what your saying but there's nothing wrong in getting help from other terriers to bribg your dog on it helped me when I started off I think mabe because the first terrier I had was a Plummer and that's pretty much the only way I could get the dog to go to ground but no worries anyway you sound like you have more experience than me so I'll also take your advice

  14. lovely terrier mate best of luck to you ryan
  15. yeah mate 'morton' is right your dog needs to be worked along side other terriers to give it a bit of a nudge in the right direction, terriers come on quickly when there worked as a pack 'its a confidence thing', something you wont achieve without the help of other dogs to "show it the ropes" all the best with ypur dog mate ryan
  16. welcome to the site mate, all the best with the pup, what aspect of terrier work are you planning on using your terrier for, if your planning on digging fox dont let him see rabbits or else hell mark them, ive had this problem befor and its a bitch when you break through after hours of sweaty digging to find your dog filling its belly on rabbit lol, i would start him off ratting then try and get out with some experienced lads off here, gain some permission and your sorted more or less atb ryan
