  1. What about circular funnel traps - any experience? As on this website link: http://icwdm.org/handbook/birds/Magpies.asp#LinkTarget_997
  2. I have a crow & general corvid problem. I want to reduce the number of jackdaws etc in the area around my house. (if I could get all my neighbours to go out simultaneously I would shoot them! ). However, I live in a pretty built up area (I have considered shooting them with an air rifle out of the house but the other half isn't keen!) hence I need to rely on a trap. I don't have a masive garden and therefore require quite a compact trap, I have used larsen traps previously for magpies but was wondering if anyone knows of any other designs that are more compact/effective for jackdaws
  3. Sorry, when I said "I don't care what anybody says" it was only in use as a tern of phase...not that I didn't value others opinions. I agree if you are less accurate than your rifle's capabilities why bother spending more money? However, quality does come into it and I would argue that an Anschutz barrel will take a lot more rounds than a Sako's in it's lifetime and hence you would ultimately get better value for money. PS: - do you think I'm opening a huge can of worms here!?!?! I agree too, between 40% and 60% of your budget should be spent on the matching scope.
  4. I don't care what anybody says, Anschutz make the most accurate rifles...if they consistantly take all the medals at the olympics etc why buy anything else. All you have to do is look at the magazines, their nearest competitor (probably Sako) use cheap plastic mags, anschutz still use rugged quality metal mags (at half the price too!). If your anywhere in the North TJ McAvoys in Standish were the cheapest in the country for mine. I had quotes from £850 and ended up buying it from McAvoys for £460!! Heard lots of other recommendations from them too.
  5. Hi-Lux!!!!! If it's between the two go for the Navara - if you have sufficient headroom!!! The early ones especially weren't built for those of us over 6ft! Not too sure what the new ones are like in this department, but they get a good write up.
  6. I know there are some laughs in here but we really need engage with these people and realise thier concerns, and they will in turn listen to ours. There's too much negativity of either party on both sides...Ramblers aren't going anywhere, they're sport isn't in jepody of being banned...OURS IS! Therefore is it not better to talk to these groups (or simply continue trying!!!) to get more people on our side?? The idea is that we can all continue to enjoy the countryside - remember it's not ours, it's not theirs, it's not even the people who own it - we're all simply stewards of it. I
