Okay, as everyone in Forum Land picks on me anyway, here's a question to the people who are knocking Milo from behind a PC screen... Why do you think that Foxhound/Staghound packs/Hunts etc, have puppies, they're often put out to loan to followers of the hunt to have them live in their home (Puppy Walking)and they get used to other dogs/livestock etc, so that when those Hounds started Hunting (or Trailing becouse of the Hunt Ban.. ) They stick to the correct scent and dont bugger off worrying sheep etc... Now think about it, they're working hounds, they cant go in a pet home if they

I've seen it with my own eyes at Saluki coursing meets before the ban... So I honestly f****n believe that.. Ruweis Salukis - Karen Fisher - The home of smooth and feathered Salukis from recent desert bred origins, is well known for showing her Salukis and did very well at coursing meets in the past.. And she aint the only one.. Below is a "show" bred saluki from before the UK hunting ban owned by a good friend.. That saluki is now 13 and has two CC'S and 1 Reserve CC from the show ring..

The sire to my dog who's now eight, was a Kilbourne Deerhound going back to Arkinglass.. Infact, I'd say most Deerhounds went back to Arkinglass - these dogs were "dual" purpose as everyone who knowns Deerhound breeding should know.... I cant see how in the relative short time of the Hunting Ban how the working ability has been bred out of the kennels that show.. It's no difference to Kennel Club registerd Saluki's.. They can still do the job.. These "show" deerhounds I've seen lived up to their name..

just read,all the replys.this very same scenario happened to me last year.a very good dog of mine 4 years old and trained PROPERLY.disapeared out of sight on a moor.i know how you feel when you first look at your animal smashing into a sheep (not farting about with it)but smashing it.its you that owns that animal,and i sympathise with your predicament.i didnt even think about sorting him ,it was far to gone for that.BUT after presure from some freinds to give the dog another chance,i buckled and done exactly that.against my better judgment.5 months of back to basics 5 days a week of constant

At the end of the day mate, it's your dog and it's a hard choice.. And you know your dog more than any other person on this site.. Even if you did "thrash" her there and then, she's already done it, some may never do it again. But if you're not there and she's out of sight, it's not worth the hassle and risk as she's done it once and may think about doing it when you are not present.. I know of a German Wirehaired Pointer, proper hard working german import dog.. The owner had him working and he disapeared, found him on a sheep.. He got thrashed on the spot, he never looked at another sheep wh

No problem Ug.. I've been on a couple of driven Wild Boar shoots in the Appenines and a little Red Legged Partridge/Pheasant shooting over Pointers/Setters.. One thing I found funny was that "us" in the UK prefer the continental HPR breeds, but in Italia English Setter/English Pointer seems the dog of choice for all work.

Oh dear I've been told off by collie/grey.. , still it's all okay to call me a Gay boy on here.. Thing is, I'm always out in the cold and rain as a Under keeper, with the rain running down the crack of my arse.. I start a new job as a forester soon, and I'm heavily involved in running my deerhound/greyhound, rifle shooting, helping my folks training gundogs, etc.. That's my resume.. I only dress up when I go to Italy, as I try to compete with the 100% Italians.. So any nice females (Munters included)into fieldsports PM..
