  1. the average price of a lurcher pup at todays prices is about £180 (you dont need to be a mathmatician to work it out) i dont think that this out of the way, in comparison to the price of fishing tackle or guns etc, some pups are going to be expensive some are given away for free, just take your pick, and buy one for a price you are happy with. cocker
  2. theres not a dog in hancocks placed thats ever been worked, on quarry, and never has been in 25 years, his stud dogs he has now are all bred off non workers which he had 20 years back and more.
  3. oh and ps i have been around bull crosses for 20 years, and have seen plenty and know plenty who also have them, but never know anything like these two.
  4. believe me billy boy is right billy boy, up untill last year my mate had a bitch which looked just like that one you have there, he got her at eight weeks old off another friend of ours who actually bred the litter, the father was a bull (proper type) red and white dog, we know all of its breeding going back years, the bitch was pure greyhound, with all relevant paperwork we also know quite a bit about her breeding, the bitch had never been mated before and was penned on its own, always. there were 4 pups in the litter and 3 looked like you would expect out of this first cross mating,
  5. dont cook it mate, its best to feed them on raw meat, always make sure its nice and fresh though
  6. the fens are 1,500 square miles which is 1 million acres.
  7. sounds to me like it could be muscle cramp due to a build up of lactic acid, i think the fact that she has not been run for 19 weeks and has had pups during this time, and she is a heavyish built bitch, and who is maybe not as fit as she should be, could all indicate this, especially if she is very lethargic, panting a lot, doesnt have a good appetite, and it hurts her if you touch her muscles, try massaging her with liniment, very gently, from her back legs first then towards her head, dont excersise her much just for now, give her a dose or two of electrolite solution, keep her hydrated
  8. it makes it 3/8ths bull and 5/8ths greyhound
  9. might have gone under a car, have seen marks like that on ones dead at the side of roads,
  10. a german wirehaired pointer is the one for that job mate.
  11. hi, is anyone off to the east cleveland lurcher and terrier show at roxby tomorow, ? its, between guisboro and whitby, good day out. cocker
  12. i have a good bull greyhound dog which i would use for stud, (proper type) and it would be my absolute pleasure to show any potential breeder who wanted to use him, how he works, but that is only half of the deal, because you would have to show me that your bitch can do exactly the same and possibly more and i have very high expectations, its not just about the stud dog its about the bitch aswell, not only that i would only do it if i wanted a pup out of the mating for myself, obviously judging the abilities of anothers dog cannot be done overnight, so this would be a long way round of
  13. all of the very best of dogs owned by the most experienced men, have all missed a few whilst they were young dogs, just make sure you pick easy slips and give your dog every advantage, once your dog catches a rabbit, put it back on the lead praise it and go home whilst the going is good and the dog is excited, always make your trips exciting and finish on a good note, dont run your dog too much, keep it ultra keen, try to run a young dog on young rabbits, as these are less experienced at getting away, sometimes keep your dog on a lead and let it watch an experienced dog catch something at clos
  14. you can always bring one into this country yourself mate, cocker
  15. hi mate, put it this way, i have done this for 37 years, and have never been done for it, its the same as a lot of things mate, there is a time and place for everything, use common sense and you wont get into trouble or come to any harm, and it will do you and the dog good. dont go to fast or too far or you just run the dog to a skeleton, 3-5 miles at a steady (dog walking) pace 3 or 4 times a week is great for the dog and wont wear him down, all the best cocker
  16. that way you may get a good coat but they might not be the fastest of rabbit dogs, a good chance that a fair few could be small and heavy, and a bit cloddy, being a first cross out of those two breeds.
  17. hi mate, as the last post says, most will do a rabbit, my bull x is bred like this....hes out of a "1/2 bull 1/2 grey bitch" which was put to a "3/8 bull 5/8 grey"" dog, he is 27inches to the shoulder and 75lbs in weight he does rabbits better than most of the smaller dogs i have had,and retreives them to hand, BUT i would never class him as a rabbit dog, they are more of a good alround hunting dog :
  18. hi mate what year is the quad please, what sort of value do you put on it ? might be up for a deal.
  19. i could believe it as i have seen one particular pair if whippets (purebred kc reg) do both of these species pre ban, on quite a few occasions, ive no doubt about it if there bred from the right stuff and entered right they will do it. by no way am i saying they would be good at it very regularly, or do it with particularly good style,or single handed but they can do it paired up ok.
