  1. Nice dog mate! like the Saluki x Grey's. Thinking about Saluki x Whippet, see how they work out! Give the boy a few months to settle in to home, and then get a whippet bitch as a companion for him. Hope then that we get some little uns from them when they are ready to breed!
  2. Was thinking of picking up a small whippet bitch to keep Aladdin company! But think its best till the op is done and healed, in cse they tangle in an argument and something happens. God that would kill me! Iv'e got so attached to him in such a short while! Gonna try this tripe today, he gets better food than me, lol. I had egg and chips for tea yesterday while he sat with a whole chicken, lol. Something wrong here, lol. Whats the best mince to get him! Special dog mince or will the mince from our butcher shelf do! Spos the fat contents would be better in dog mince? All ne
  3. My mate is dropping me off a ferret this week, and I was wondering about that too! Thanks for the advice!
  4. Bloody hell! This dog is so laid back he's almost horizontal. He didn't back an eybrow, even at all the other dogs and cats that were at the vets. Had his first jab, didn't even look at it. Had his chip and all we had was a tiny movement and a small ouch! The vet checked him over and recons he has got a small hernia that has to be sorted at 6mnths. The breeder guy didn't say anything about that. Vet said that he can feel something like stitches inside, and wonders if the dogs already been under the knife as a pup. Waiting for the guy to phone me back when he gets home from work to sort
  5. Another half hour, and we will soon see how calm and patient he is, lol. VETS!
  6. Well! He had his first shower today! Easy going as I thought it would be. Just stood there and took it, exept the couple of times when he nearly did a 4 way split mind! Have to put a towel down in the shower for him to get grip on. Easy to dry these Saluki's ain't they, lol. Bloody coller I bought was too big for now so need a smaller one till he grows. Wont be long at his rate! Tried out the harness on him that Im'e gonna use when we first go out on the pull. He stands there with no probs, taking all the pulling and pushing that was being done to fit it tidy! Once it was adj
  7. Well the first few days with the pup has been pretty good so far! Started to come around a bit now and pounce around the garden like a real puppy! Settled in real well. Sleeps all night, and waits for us to get up before going to loo, not bad for a dog thats never been in the house! Dont like manufactured food I can tell you! Loves rabbit, which is a godsent, lol. Eats the whole thing, exept head. He tries to take that back to bed with him. Have to watch what he puts in his bed, he is such a hoarder. All our tea and hand towels go missing every day. Guesse where we find them. Sta
  8. Whats this thing about Dew claws then? Everyone mentions them. He is loving his chicken I say! Do you recon not to cook it at all then. We use one of those new fat free glass dish cookers so no fat on it, praps thats wrong, cause I spos he needs his fat too. What about all the vits etc he needs then? If he wont eat the dry? Want him to get started as good a start as he can. Thought they were not allowed chicken bones, or is that crap? Tripe? Will be a race to who tries that first, lol I ain't tried it yet so bit for him bit for me, lol. Why feed a dog anything you wont put
  9. Yeh! cant wait for his tail to get more feathered! Then he will look like what I would relate to as a true Saluki! I only just realised that you could get smooth Saluki's, shows how naive I am! When I got him, the breeder was feeding him on WAGG! Right, Iv'e tried all ways to get him to eat it, but he isn't impressed with dried food, even though I soak it, and try it dry! Loves chicken, and Iv'e just tried him with Champion tin food with a bit of dried. He eats the meat, leaves the dry. Recomendations on how best to go around this please. I realise that he will be finding it stra
  10. Well, He had a reat night without any whimpering last night, so I slept well. lol. Went up about 11.00pm and left him in his bed, and didn't hear a sound off him till I got up at 6.30 this morning! What would you recomend giving him as far as food is concerned, cause I want to keep making shure he gets all the vits, etc he needs to grow etc, but e is turning his nose up to the WAGG that he was brought up on at the kennels! I tried mixing chicken, (He loves chicken) into it, and he sorts out the chicken meat from the rest, lol. So I am going to try another brand today, so up for trial recom
  11. Thanks butt! I think so! Exept he dont know the meaning of child gates on doors, lol. Nice smelly message on the brand new lounge carpet this evening! lol. Not his fault though, should be watching him. Comes out in the wash, so no need to break mates over a stool, lol. Saluqihounds: Checked out that site, thanks! Ken
  12. Try using these http://tinypic.com/ You just upload your pics to teir site and yo have a link to post onto forums etc. I use them a lot on Elite4x4.co.uk. Worked on me post about my pup on here as well
  13. Well Ethyl! See if my old body is gonna put up with the challenge, lol. Course it is, lol. Thing is now, all my spare pennies are gonna go into the pup for a while, so my truck is getting to be put on the backburner!
  14. Hey Stroller! That Saluki X of yours! The breeder guy had another dog , the brother of my pu, down at his home. It was so close to your dogs markigs its uncanny! If i had had the pennies on me yesterday, I may ave ended up with a pair! But there again I wouldnt be up on the computer all night then would i, lol. Thats a nice looking dog you got butt!
  15. Thanks for the feedback on the post you lot! Its nice to see that you agree with me that its a nice dog! You know when you were a kid, and daddy brought home your first puppy or kitten, and the warm joy it made you feel. Well, bloody hell, Im'e 50yrs old and I got that feeling yesterday, lol. When I got to the Breeders house, the pup came right over to me away from his mum and brother and was going in and out my legs and sitting on my foot pushing back on to me. I knew then he was coming home with me. Daft I know but if I can keep a togtherness with the pup that will go on for a long tim
  16. Ive seen a couple around, so will get one this week, and try it gently on weekend, see how he gets on. For a Saluki pup, he seems to be allowing me very close to im and into his personal space quite well! Far from the scared dog I was expecting1
  17. What would you recomend to use as far as the first collar is concerned on a saluki pup? He ain't had one near him yet so the breeder say's so dont want to upset him too early with something a bit harsh, but I would like him to get used to one as soon as poss.
  18. Is this something that certain dogs have bred into them or something! I mean if the parents were like that efore them.
  19. Thanks, he is! I think the pics are to big for the forum, am I right? Will have to try and resize the next lot better! Well I never thought Id'e be sitting up with a blooming dog all night to settle him in at my age! Thought my children days were gone. Not minding it though! He is doing ok for the first night away from is mum in 4 mths! Will wait a few days and then try him with a soft coller to see if he will get used to it! Cat wait to take him and show him off once his jabs are sorted!
  20. Hope these pics get on, if so, this is Aladdin, my 4mnth old pup dog. Pure Saluki, I bought him today in Barry! Iv'e been looking for the right pup for ages, and this is what I ended up with! Sorry about the pics, they are with my phone, its late, and we are both tyred fronm a long evening getting aquainted! He is now fast asleep on the kitchen floor! Will get a load more pics of him tomorrow for you to cast your critical eyes over! lol. Im'e happy, and we bonded straight away, which was a great fealing! I know its a purebred, but Im'e hoping he is going to turn out a good rabbit do
  21. You have made an old man very happy! My dream dog as a kid! Still want a saluki cross now mind! Please keep the pics coming in!!
  22. Thanks for the input! Its a good thing that there are people willing to offer advice and tips. As is obvious its all new for me at moment but well willing to learn, but not at the expence of ruining a good dog, so yeh, I am going to concider all points that are handed out to me by other more experienced owners. Thanks again!
  23. Hi gang! As with a lot of guys at my age, Iv'e got too much spare time on my hands! Ive decided to get a Lurcher to work. This should keep myself, and the dog fit! Also I love rabbit etc, so will be a cheap way of keeping food on the table! Who am I kidding? ( nothing works out cheap in the end) Ive been told that a Lurcher with Collie cross is good, as it has the brains of the collie! is that true. I spos everyone has their own opinion on this one! Ive always wanted a Saluki since I was a kid so would like a pup with Saluki in it iff poss I spos. Whats this thing about long an
