  1. Reguardless if same litter that dont mean they will not fight when there balls drop, yes some brothers will get on but most dont, if you were to get there nuts cut off within a week they would be able to go back together again. Not sure about the one with the jill but could it be he is also just being a horney boy or is it a case of him being pure nasty, What is he like with other jills? Mind hobs come in to season long before the jills.
  2. Contact you local sspca or rspca, put up posters and ask the local kids, even offer a reward you be surprized how many young kids will help look if they think they getting paid , even if it only £5 you give them atleast if ever happens again they might help out.
  3. I find just leaving her in over night is more than enough.
  4. First one will be cardross game fair mate at the lake of montieth think it the first wkend in may. try google search.
  5. ive two hobs ready to go the now Take it they are the sandy brothers from last year litter, did that girl not come see you mate. ive turned down folk too as not got any hobs but will get numbers for you mate and pass them on .
  6. wullieh would you be prepared if all these posts that say they cull surplus kits sent their kits up to you to rehome? Hyperthetically as nobody has mentioned passing unwanted kits on to rescues on this topic Y.I.S Leeview Leeview if you read back then you will see i said why not ask the local rescue for help. And i do and will continue to take in unwanted litters, i rehome approx 150 a yr from my rescue the most being 236 back in 2007, and alot were unwanted kits. Good on you wullieh ,were they from working or pet breeders? Does your rescue neuter ferrets before rehoming as a lot
  7. Jill Jab - Costs between £8 and £20 depending if vet charges consultation fee and how many ferrets being jabbed at the time as the viel can be split, jill might come back into season again depending when in season she got the jab, she will prob have a phantom preg pulling cage mates back to the nest box that might last a few weeks. Implant - ment to last approx 18 mths at a cost of between £40 and £50 (could neuter for this ) jill will not have phantom preg, and it can also be used on entire hobs letting them stay with the jills and other entire hobs, and cuts down the musky oils smel

  10. At what age would you think to rehome your young ferret kits?
  11. Connytrapper No doubt they will all start to post to defend them selfs by saying they only work jills but as i said even if the hobs go to pet homes atleast they have a chance of getting there line back if somthing was to happen.
  12. 1 when did you get her 2, keep her in cage of her own 3, if still fully swollen then if by 10 to 14 days it looks like the swelling starting to wrinckle then id say in approx 4 weeks you will have a litter mate as the preg for aprox 42 days.
  13. you still drivellin on???? come on oh wise 1, tell me how you come tae the conclusion that the pet ferrets out number working ferrets by 7 to 1 with me being around ferrets for more years than i can remember and speaking to people when i attend gamefairs doing ferret pr and when any person gets a ferret from myself i dont mind if they are for working as folk know me all over and know i will rehome to working homes unlike some other rescues, i have any person rehome a ferret fill in a form and looking at my detailed records i have on the comp it shows quite clearly that mostare for pet
  14. not the bes pic mate but can see a jill swollen at the back end to say she in season.

  16. Lets get one thing straight here, like it or not i do not give a toss, if everyone on this forum was to breed for what they needed and even tried to find some homes for any surplus stock before the breeding or just after the birth even, then if they were Resposable and bred one ferret a year witch should be enough for anyone then any extras should find homes no problem, time to be honest with our own selfs and realise that ferrets are becoming much more popular as pets and now out rate the working homes by prob about 7 to 1 looking at my records of running the rescue, i think ferrets going to
  17. Your right dottydoo both colour have the magnet in the mkt 3 locator but looking into it the earier mkt3 orange one dont have have the magnet as has some of the grey boxes, if your box has the magnet then there will be an arrow pointing down towards a dot, if this is not there then there is no magnet.
  18. so is this an end to it then dooty doo :friends: and lets get back to sharing knowledge to ferret owners that need help, as i do have a wealth of knowledge not being big headed that id like to share with people with ferrets, i do not know if you ever heard of my rescue but i have rehomed ferrets all over the uk and attend gamefairs during the summer raising ferret awareness.my goal is if i change some folks veiws then welldone to the ferrets.
  19. Cleanspade i have the .177 and mine is bang on the button great guns can give bit of a kick if you want to try mine out first. think you know me on another forum as whyferret1 =plummer forum had thought about buy the big brother but limited funds just now.
  20. I wash mine after the season and they still work, but only some of the mrk 3 locators have the magnet at the bottom, not sure if the orange one has but will find out. the pluss with the mk3m is the battery can stay in and be switched off given upto 300hrs of battery life. the down side is they are a bit more bulky than the original mrk 3 and somtimes catch the nets. Deben now only sell the mk3m and have since stopped the mk3 flat colar that is grey and pulls apart, as the mk3m is screw on but it can be a pain trying to feed the collar back though again.
  21. So you plan to have a kid but your wife has twins what would you do? just get rid of one, didn't think so so why is an animal any differant. this practise of killing is crap there is no need for it at all if you choose to breed then you should be prepaired to raise the kits until you find homes for them all yes you might have to keep them untill they ar about 6 mths old but if you advertise them then im sure even if it is to a pet owner you will find a home for them, and if having real problems and all has been tried then contact a rescue centre and learn that you dont need to breed, and if
  22. From the date of the first breeding it will take 42 days bit if the ferret jill is being disturbed then she might hold on for up to a week more but beware if she is to be disturbed and she dont trust you 110% then she might turn out to be a bad mum and either bury her kits this making them suffocate and die or she might just eat them, but once she has had them then leave her alone as i know you will be tempted to keep wanting to look in to see how they are getting on the above still appys to this you take that risk mate.
