  1. sorry but i got to laugh, been on my back side a few times but luck would have it i was up the moors an no one around.Glad it werent at my young grandsons school,he only 4 and nearly got me in sh.. one day, whilst going through a national park.Told everyone in the park we were hunting rabbits for our tea,i can imagine him and his class oh look that dogs caught a rabbit,is it your granma kane lol, wouldnt mind but Dodger was only 15 weeks old.Good lesson for the kids. But fancy stealing your dogs catch.
  2. thanks for your reply, thats what i thought, they needed more.Thank you.I will give it my best shot at what i want to do.
  3. bet your gutted but as said family first as you already know how hard it is getting jobs. Can you not find a mate who would look after your pup for you,or family that could help in any way.Feel right sorry for you,or part share the pup.
  4. i would like to know what amount of exercise my two lurchers need,I took Gypsie Rose today for slip lead training on the lure,on just the straight, she has never chased a thing in her life, unfortunately i couldnt take Dodger as just an hour before we were to leave he cut his paw.I was listening to a conversation about exercise for dogs, well they were discussing whippets.I tried finding a site about exercising lurchers but i dont think it was right i could be wrong. It said a lurcher only needs 3 half hour walks a day as long as you have a big space to let them lose in, i persume this means garde
  5. lovely dog you got there i had to look twice its the spit of my dog Dodger, nice catch as well
  6. lovely looking dog and in great condition,
  7. at first when they were pups had them in the house with back door open all day, then i read in a lurcher book that kennel kept lurchers made better workers,so i got a kennel with run.I put the dogs in there during the day but brought them in at night. Before i put the pups in kennel they were almost house trained. But at night they started pissing all over in the kitchen,no matter how many times i got up to let them out. Then it dawned on me the kennel to them was no different to the kitchen, the kitchen to them was a night kennel. So now i only put them in the kennel if i go out all day or we need
  8. pleased i read this,i havent had that problem yet but i know i will.I have been told every dog does do this even if its just the once.It is hard not to scold ye pups when they do something like this first thing that enters your head is F..k,
  9. cant even get my two lurchers to catch one never mind two,
  10. i cant wait till spring to take my two lurchers, another dream come true. But i got plenty of work to do with them before that.
  11. lol laughing my head off, dont know if i am right in saying this, lol the police here in Bolton would love that dog working for them lol.Dont think anyone could escape that one, great stuff.
  12. couldnt get Dodger to jump anything at first,i did the same i built a small fence that he had to jump before he could get out of the gate, that worked fine, but out side he was stubborn,in the end i brought his teddy with him the one he had since a pup,i threw it over a small fence lol poor thing cried and cried for it being a female i felt sorry for him,i jumped the fence lol Dodger thinking i was getting his teddy for him but no i walked passed it,eventually he jumped over,at the minute i am trying to train him to jump barred wired fences,i hate these as i have seen my mates dog ripped by them
  13. folk have different views on this,i have had the same vet for 30 years. When Dodger was injected he was 15 weeks old,his breeder had the kennels and a large field,Dodger was out running about since he could walk. When he had his first injection the vet said i could take him out where possibly no other dogs go,which is handy as the moors are only 10 minutes away by car.now Gypsie was injected at 7 weeks but i got her when she was 5 weeks.I was told the same.Parvo is a horrible when a pup catches it,i think everyone goes through the thoughts will i or wont i take the pup out,but being logical lol
  14. i have worked staffs all the time simply because i cant afford a good plummer and i have had staffs for over 26 years,at the minute my little bitch is working with one of my lurcher pups.here is a pic from last week,,will put up some more pics later, she is full staff from my original line she stands at 13 inches and is 14 months old.She works bushes, flushes pheasants etc and is 100% stock broken, its hard work to train them, but she is a silent killer.I have permission to work her thanks to my sons boss who has land and stables.Forgot to mention she is also used to water and retrieves water fowl
  15. what a beauty you have my deerhound cross is only comming up to 10 months she is all legs at the minute lol and is still clumbsy on her feet,I swear she would never be fast enough to catch anything lol but all the lads say give her time.At the minute she is standing 25 inches.

  21. that is one hell of a deer.Your going to think i am thick lol typical woman me,i had never seen a red deer before first hand not even as a kid,i didnt realize how big these things are lol showed i was on the wrong sites in the past.A few weeks ago i was walking through my usual haunt with my staffy, just an early morning walk, when my dog started growling thought oh theres someone either in the bushes,or theres a dog about, not thinking who would be out and about up there at 4 in the morning,so i flased my light over to where she was standing and nearly wet my self well i could use the correct wo
