I'll tell you one thing i'd rather hear of 300 being shot, dished out to the guns, beaters, pickers up at the end of the day and the rest go to the game dealers than 1 being caught by a dog and thrown in the nearest ditch.

Well to me it's an animal and you either choose to shoot them or you don't. To some people there a pest even and the abuse folk get on here for thinning out a few hares is shocking. I'd imagine this shoot would have been doing it for years a probably for years to come. I'd love someone to go on the lurcher section and say they disagreed with coursing..... They'd get destroyed!!!

I was applauding the day that he obviously enjoyed. Not my cup of tea but thats because theres no hares about here, a different story with this lad though isn't there?. Money going to charity is a bonus as long as the money stayed here.

I dont think you can buy Roundup of the shelf now. Someone mentioned it already but the equilent to it now is Gallup and its just as good. -

The thing is Lab clever dog's wont chase dummies.. ..seen Moll embarressed before today because her dog's would not chase a lure..in the field she would kill on song..but that synthetic lure was nothing.. You dont need to 'chase' them mate they dont move............... To be completely honest i dont do a hell of alot of dummy work anyway, my dogs excel on pricked game thats legged it. Most dogs can pick dead stuff.....But i reckon he might if i'm lucky manage a few dummies........... Just about to go today and look at a fencing contract so i'll know when i'll be available for meeting

Not for rats but for stoats then yes. Pile of guts underneath trap in a hole in the wall...............guarenteed.. a well set tunnel is the way on paths used by stoat, i find on fence lines and near to gate posts although i dont target the stoats no more as dont get hassle from them, if anything they do a bloody good job keeping the rat population down on my estate We have the odd one around the rearing field in tunnel traps too as there are no walls here. Last shoot we had it was walls everywhere and proved great places for nicking stoats.... They were a b*****d round the smal

Your quite correct there mate. The bottom line to me is i dont reckon someone would want a lurcher that didnt use what qualities it was bred for and instead be brought up like a gundog. Lets face it you may very well have this dog for 10-15 years and thats a long time just to prove a point. As i've stated many times i'd love to have a Lurcher and i would love the challenge of training it to see if i could get it up to a standard i'd be happy with without loosing any qualities of the running dog. I doubt it very much though as my training techniques would go out the window when "certain game" p

ive used a lurcher on a driven game shoot correct some raised eyes and muffled words were spoken You would hear some muffled words by any keeper round here if you turned up with a lurcher as i said earlier all went well until a munty got up :laugh: feeeeeeenton heard a few lads on the line shouting their so called fantastic gundogs name when deer or hare have popped up in front of them too I find it better just to whistle............... i cant whistle, well thats my excuse plus ive 4 labs with me at the same time, their names are You, Fecking, Barsteward, Cvnt.... even
