You are largely right, it drives me nuts. Unfortunately we are surrounded by suits and antis and greens and wishy washy liberal townies and vegans and all manner of others who have tremendous influence based on unreasoned emotion and limited logic. This is all whipped up by the media who only want a quick headline to make money and swallowed by politicians who would do anything for a vote to keep them in a very comfortable life-style. Im 6'3 and 17 n half stone about 20 wet through. But that does not give me the right to go and ask two lads what there doing parked in a public layby if there van is taxed , mot , and insured then even a police officer cant go poking his nose in as they are in there right to drive off if they have done no wrong or been reported for something. Shop away if it makes you feel better but ive always believed that sort of talk comes back too bite you on the arse at some point. I view a pest as something that is having a financial impact on someone and if it is the person loosing out should be allowed to protect his stock. These fisheries that you seem to dislike...I'm sure they give jobs to people, ? Not strictly true, yes a heron will take weaker fish, but it will also take ANY fish which comes within striking distance. I have seen hundreds of them in over 40 years of angling. The heron is a relentless predator, not only do they take fish, they take any living thing which will fit down their throat ie. frogs, snakes, rats, voles, small rabbits, ducklings, chicks.. etc. etc. Have a browse through youtube to confirm this. Once they find a source of food they will return time and time again until there is no food left. I have seen a heron take a near 3lb bream which wouldn't fit down it's t
