like stig said, cut loads this winter mate, hazel, ash, blackthorn? i would recomend stick making a complete course by andrew jones and clive george! gives you a good insight of stickmaking, pity you dont live near, ive got a few dried out shanks for you to use! chris

the rule of thumb is a year for a 1" thick piece of wood mate, cut when the saps low in the winter,, chris

some very good work there mate,they look old school but also modern with the colouring,back looks smart japanese art work is timeless.. i had my first one at 16 and now at 29 im still going!ive spent rougly 8k and still not finished, ill put some pics up when my otherlaptop is back from bein fixed... ive just made 20 out of hazel, cut 10 pegs about 4" long, drill hole in them for the eyes, then split each one down the middle, taper a point with a sharp knife, hey presto! 20 pegs, only took me 10 mins!

just a few sticks ive made over the last few years, others i have made i gave to friends! when i shank i dont use the steal rods, i carve a wooden dowl on the top of the stick, i find it easier this way, chris blackthorn one piece thumb

can somebody tell me how to tranfer my pics on my computer onto photobucket, i knew how to do it before they changed to the new photobucket?

i used a 1 1/2 meter length of 63mm gas pipe capped off at the bottom, with a 8mm hole drilled about 10" up from the cap for the wallpaper steamer nozzle, put a couple of sticks in, a bit of rag in top to keep steam in, only takes 5mins! i use a heat gun now, its alot easier, when uve straightend them lay them on a flat surface over night, like a table or floor? if uve dried them correctly for a year they prob will bend, dont worry! they will straighten! chris

Is it me or did her ears go from button to standing, well half standing? One of the pups from my litter looks like it's doing that too. i like the dog in bottom pic, what breed is it mate? chris

Good point mate but you only live once atb yeah i suppose so, but i think they,ll go hand in hand when im toothless, bald, big hairy nose and ears, bent spine and knocked kneed, deaf as a post,, think my tats will be last thing i worry about, lol

when i set out to look for my first lurcher for rabbiting only,i didnt want anything to big, so i decided on a beddy whip, but, i wanted one around 21"? and more to the whipp side, and i kno where youre coming from, cos some of these crosses can throw smaller than mine, so i did a bit of home work, and got told make sure the dam was a whipp, and a decent sized one, sire was a 22" beedy whipp, so this ticked all the boxes for me! and shes turned out 21" and very whippety! lamps! bushes! excells at rabbing, so couldnt ask for anymore of her, some people just like the looks of these little dogs

i chose a 3/4 whiip x 1/4 beddy for my first lurcher, as i only wanted her for rabbits, and shes a great little dog, 4yrs old 21"

i went with the hogan decimator as it fits the look of the r10 very well plus works a dam treat too,also helped it was also the cheapest how much are they ryan, and whats the size of it, jim hogan works in a local gun shop where i live, think im might call in and try one? chris

thanks for the advice guys. i kno both silencers are not far between on noise levels, i just guess its the cosmetic look good that im after???? i kno! but its what i prefer! cheers chris

i prefer the twink cos it fits to the shroud better than the WH, i kno there aint much differance with noise levels, just mainly the looks mate! cheers chris
