Best thing Baw, well said mate. I think it would be the best thing...........obviously Baw has admitted defeat and realises he has been in the wrong. Takes a real man that......well done mate... It's not that mate, its getting dark, roosting time...... going out with me torch soon...... I love the siloette a pheasant makes don't you........ I like the noise they make when they bounce off a fence into the dogs mouth. Not particularly fussed what kind of fence, field, pen, whatever.

All the philosophical 'it's what it means to you' bull shit aside. For me a good dog has - A good nose. Good feet. Deep chest and good wind. Good acceleration. Decent recovery. Good stamina. Brains. High prey drive. Good strike. Turns well. Fairly decent biddability. Can hunt like a f****r. And one that i get on with. And of course that is all "for it's breed and size" i.e i would want a whippet to have good stamina in comparison to other whippets, accepting that it's not going to have as good or better stamina than a saluki. Personally i start by giving my ferret 'call signs', that they must answer to at all times, once training has begun. Ferrets are then, from a young age, subject to a rigorous training regime which includes a 5 mile run before breakfast, 483 squat thrusts, and dead weights. Combat classes are of course a standard part of ALL ferrets training, but those that show special aptitude are then put through a special weapons course, either specializing in long range ballistic assault (i.e sniper rifle) or demolitions. yep , do huge warrens myself some in excess of 100+ holes streching 100 yards,,,, but i can stil get 6 ferrets in a standard double box,,,,, the worst thing i think is having boxes with seperate compartments,, these realy restict the amount of ferts you can get in there. dont get me wrong me ferts are small to medium, but if you got a trebble box with out the compartments you would get at least 6 big jills in that Spot on mate, i tried one of those triple boxes and found i was carrying a box twice as big, to give the same number of ferrets a ride. Back to me old hand made box,

Sadly i don't think he is a teenager - he stuck this in 'shooting opportunities' - we are two brothers wanting some areas for ferreting and shooting. If possible in the north west and surrounding areas. we are genuine honest lads, my brothers 25 and im 30 and not the type to mess people about and take care and pride in what we do. we already have permission on a couple of local farms. our ferrets are trained, no need for locators has they never stay down to ground hence no digging out.we also work with our dogs, not always but they are well stock broken and well trained. we will provide i.

Aye mate, that was my point, the threads about getting shot of an average dog when its working career is over (retired due to age), at least thats what i thought it was about, and what i was saying was, even if it's no world beater, if you have had it around you for its whole working life, surely you have a bond with it that it would pain you to see it just go?

How can you spend say a decade of your life knocking about with an animal and having lots of good times, even if no great ones, and not form a strong enough bond, to be able to just get shot of it?

Tell that to the small syndicate lads who are paying £3.75 a poult! lol lol And about £200 quid to shoot it.Think the porfit margens speak for themself.Saying that never had any hassle with keeper.Most shoots make a good profit. Not so much these days, just the big commercial ones.

It's like dogs, or anything. You can't sit them down at a certain age and just 'instill' values and respect in them, you have to start from day 1. Too many parents let their kids run wild and then complain to the school, when the school sends them home or just puts them in isolation or chucks them out of the class. But at the end of the day there are 30 or so kids in most classes and 1 teacher. They got a job to do, to 'teach' a class, not to try to instill respect and basic values into little timmy, because his folks never bothered.

Its not a case of either/or. I see folk all the time who give their children too much freedom, and those who give them too little, those who dont give them the clip round the ear they need and those who give them way more clips round the ear than is healthy. It's a tough thing to get right, and so many parents today don't have a clue where to start from (not aimed at anyone here), because they never really thought much about having the kids until they were there.

Well Ideation lets please not pretend that these people (Your typical Muslim) are some beacon of moral decency! We're looking at honour killings, women having to cover up in case a man can't control his sexual urges (which he isn't to blame for apparently) Forced marriages, Violence against women, circumcision! and so on and so fourth. I'd also say that the girls that are going out doing the things you mentioned aren't cultured at all, they must be lacking in many of the sound fundamentals that are in the make up of a normal happy decent kid for one reason or another. it's a real shame.
