Cracking bitch that mate, really typical of the cross, thy where bread for mooching, the Gypsies used them, good all round dogs, plenty of guts and stamina, and a decent nose.

Yes i agree whith most of the comments, the dog is far to young to even think of putting him to a bitch, work him for a few years first, then if he dose what you want him for, and dose it well, and you want to keep that line going then fair enough take a litter off him,but thats only half the story you then have to find a bitch with the same qualities, there no point in putting him with any bitch that comes along, you would be back to square one, you would be just as well going out and buying a pup from sombody who has a good line of dog.

how much do you get for rabbits ?
Gerry48 replied to mully's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
During the second world war, a wagon left Angelsea early morning picking up rabbits at pick up points,ie Bangor,LLanfairfechan, Conwy, and othere locations on route to the markets in Liverpool and Manchester, a similar system could be set up in different parts of the country, ie Scotland, Northen Irland, east coast, west country, north and south Wales, and so on.Maybe some enterprising person might work a plan out. -
how much do you get for rabbits ?
Gerry48 replied to mully's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Theres a big variation in the price paid for rabbits nationwide, some are getting a good price and otheres are getting hardly f--k all, its a pity the lads and ladies who are getting jack sh-t for theirs could not get them to the ones who are getting a good price, -

We do some grave yards for the local council, the little sods dig into the graves, and cause some of the graves to coollapse, we had 8 last time, not a big number but saved a few families forking out to have there graves repaired. -

"You cant teach an old dog new tricks"
Gerry48 replied to hunt and fish's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Hi, my only concern with using an older untried dog is chasing stuff that he or she shouldn't,most dogs will chase, but i found the untrained older dogs are hard to brake to stock, there would not be anything worse than going out with your dogs and one untrained taking a woolly, -
Spot on mate.

Absolutely correct, you will get good and bad in every line of dogs, try and see the parents working, and never rush the pups when you get one, becouse a lot of pups are ruined by being started to soon, then the owner says the dog is sh-t, its not the dog who is sh-t its the owner.

Hi, just wondering how do you train your dogs not to kill the Irish Hare, only the brown Hare, do you give them accent lessons, dont touch the Hares with an Irish brogue, is that how you do it.

The problem is mate he has two left feet.

Intelligence and agility, go on youtub type in Manchester Terrier agility, and you will see what i mean

I agree with you but i have to breed my own dogs because i cant afford the silly prices to buy a decent one and unfortunately you dont get to choose how many pups the dogs are going to have, so once ive paid stud fee and chose my two puppies why cant i get some of my money back for the stud and feeding the little mites. Whats the answer drown em at birth, not me rather see someone on here have one but not a good dog for free surely? different if you put ads on every week, i got deleted once for 1 ad for swap, when that didnt work i put for sale, still only one dog then got good comments then d

Just interested in the cross, my uncle had one, he had two actually over a period of ten to fifteen years, he purchase the first one from the Exchange and mart, a bitch he called Gypsy, she was a very good all round rabbiting dog, she done everything you would want a rabbiting dog to do,so i was just wondering if this cross was still used, but sadly it looks like it is not, what a shame. Hi all, when i was a young lad some 50 years ago, my uncle had a Whippet x Manchester Terrier bitch, she was a really good all round dog, she would mark holes she would bolt the rabbits out of the bushes in to the nets, she worked very well with the ferrets, and she caught a fair few her self, and she also was a nice colour, tan and black, more tan than black, dose anybody still use this cross or has anybody had one in the past, i would like your opinions, only to use for rabbits and possibly rats.

What a load of SH-T not everyone who breads dogs is a dealer, i purchased my dog off the net from a proper lurcher man,as an 8 week old pup, very happy with a good 2 1/2 year old bitch, i will be taking a litter off hear next year, keeping a bitch for my self, the rest will be sold to cover my cost, stud fees food vets bills and so on,but will only go to proper dog men or women, if this tit cane bread dogs and rear them for nothing he is a very clever person, i dont think,
-
dont tar every man with the same brush.just sold two workers and a pup, diddnt have a dealer amound them ,top lads all around! its a step in the [bANNED TEXT] direction ....... anyone who sells dogs IS a dealer .
