  4. My 11 month old pup will retrieve dummys, balls, sticks anything but a rabbit, not even a dummy with a rabbit skin wrapped around it, just fetches it halfway back, same as it does with a rabbit that its caught. What would be the best way to encourage it to retrieve the catch and what would you say the chances of it becoming a good retriever are.
  5. Do many people use them on here, if so what for and lets see some pics of first crosses please.
  6. I have been feeding my dog on barf for eight months since he was young, things like chicken wings, turkey necks and beef/tripe mince. I have recently bought a load of flank(60% beef,40% fat) and tripe, and have access to a load of stuff from the local butcher. Is it ok to feed cows tongue and pigs heads, and which bones would I be better off trying to get. Chicken is not available by the way.
  7. A lot of people have bad things to say about chudleys puppy food but my 3 month old pup is doing well on it mixed with raw chicken/tripe mince, the same as I brought my older dog up on.
  8. I have a ten month old 3/4 whippet collie, just started him off and had two rabbits each time out. Very fast, clever and obedient, hunts the bushes, walks to heel off the lead when there is rabbits running in front of him, stays, retrieves and jumps big gates for fun. Very easy to train. Hopefully he will be a good ferreting dog to only time will tell.
  9. A farmer I know has asked me to do a bit of ferreting in a couple of his fields, is it too early in the year or will it be ok?

  11. I have a 3/4 whippet 1/4 collie 10 months old and a first x beddy whippet which is only 8 weeks. I bought the beddy x with the idea that when I want another dog when mine are past their best I can breed them myself so that I know im getting worker to worker and I think the beddy will give fire to the mix while collie might give a little brains.
  12. My oldest pup is ten months old and i've just started to work him, he yaps on the first run then is quiet as a mouse after that. Im putting it down to excitement.
  13. After deciding to let my neighbour have a pup that I recently accuired due to its breeding being questionable, I decided on a f1 beddy whippet. I had a five hour round trip on Tuesday to pick up my new addition and im pleased I made that decision. Here she is in her favourite spot in the garden And here she is squaring up my older pup And taking it easy
  14. Took my young dog out yesterday for an hour on my new permission and he caught two rabbits out of four runs, was very close to catching four but took a tumble twice when striking on the uneven ground.
  15. It's passed on through urine, vomit and shite. If a dog that has pavo urinates and your dog comes into contact with the urine, even just sniffing it, your dog could catch it.
  16. Just ten months old, looking forward to his first season.
  17. I have put this in the wanted section but doesn't seem to be getting much attention. A good friend of mine is looking for a 1/4 bedlington 3/4 whippet or bedlington whippet grey bitch pup, so if anyone knows of any litters in the north east area a pm would be much appreciated.
  18. 23 tts, how does it compare to your mates and whats your mates like on the rabbits, below is a pic of the dam, f1 beddy whippet, do you think my pup will be racy looking or bit heavy?
  19. Its a pic of my new pups sire, was told it is a whippet with touch of grey but looks to me like there's a bit of something else in there.
