    My New norfolk lurcher puppy bitch from nicks lines Had to wait 2 years for her ,worth every bit 14 weeks i guess in her new home in ipswich So easy to train ,had all the right breeding and my pest control work on rabbits ,in local farms where the happy days. Didn't start her until 14 months on a few easy myxie rabbits ,carry back to hand alive ,carry back feathers game too Took his advice over the years about training and few other good gamekeeper s and it all paid off

    Another time i drove up for a few days ,this is my lurcher Barley which was about 3 yrs old great calm hunting bitch ,good feet, endless stamina ,many years later about 25 yrs old then. She would work with my ferrets, catch foxes ,hares and pull down some bigger game too .I used her like a gundog too, and my all the years i spent hunting by now ,had trained her on stop whistles and all important commands This is there lurcher on right is her mum ,and as you see there on nicks hunting grounds the marshs

    He Talked about lurcher judging at Lamborn Show ,and give his expert advice to people showing there dogs , He spoke about Plummer ,Dougie from CTF field sports and alot of good lurcher men he knew Showing me a double leather slip lead for coursing events for lurchers Mick could breed some great lurchers ,using local dogs which was winning matches on the hare coursing scene, His lines and telling me to breed all good points to improve his lurchers ,even knowing how many pups they have and what would come out?     They did a big article in Mag called Shooting News on Mick douglas !!!! many years ago Which i saved two copies ,nice clear black /white photos of his norfolk line breed lurchers and a standing up pic of Mick deer stalkers hat holding one of his lurcher by the collar He mentioned in Plummers BOOK Dairy of a hunter too...

    Back to chat about a Really good Lurcher Breeder ,Mick Douglas from Acle in norfolk, This great guy had amazing norfolk type lurchers he breed, living on Halvergate Marshes.A real open wind swept location . I walked over to his house ,to meet him and it was small cottage ,using a generator for power his wife Maureen ,greeted me ,and had a herd of goats too.     Sadly Mick Douglas has passed away a few years ago ,its interesting to hear from others who knew him or met him . I had 2 lurchers from Mick and as you see later will put up some photos . I was young at the time ,but his advice on training and working was a great help,in my hunting trips. He was his own man ,living up on the marshes and had a lot of skills too. I enjoyed being in his present,never did i feel he talked bullshit and what was passed to me made a lot of sense, you be sadly missed my friend and thank you for sharing your knowledge to me ......

    Pick the easy rabbits,to start with,only a couple of runs then stop. Plenty of time to build your lurcher up to mate.... dog needs postive catches....not loads of misses happy hunting

    Glen is a great guy,willing to share his exp,if you listen .saw him at pestex a few years ago.Spoke to him around 6 yrs before!!! some much good excellent advice from a true pro,my pest control work,and catch rate has gone from strength to strength.     Well done , I did things a bit different I would get my Norfolk lurcher and put in all training first She was 14 months [bANNED TEXT] I started lamping Like mick Douglas told me there's no rush And over tax her when still young When we could hunt hares she caught her first 16 months Y rush in to quick got years of hunting to come We all do it and this is what did not say ur wrong Good luck mate
