    Agreed. That’s why the nut is included on the shaft’s thread - it can be tightened down onto the ferrule to prevent turn. It’d be very straight forward to drill through and insert a bolt with a wingnut.

    Yes - in two pieces it fits nicely into an average sized rucksack. A full length shovel (in two pieces) was a little too long for concealed carry.

    When you say "one marking two foot to the left of the true mark" - how many dogs did you have to ground? The new box is designed to only work with one collar - having 2 collars on at the same time really confuses it.

    I tried one a couple of times. Nicely made/engineered thing. The mouth/pan whatever is to narrow & the handle is too long imo. Bulldog style round mouth is far superior for what I want. I didn't mind the width of the WWMFG shovel but completely agree with you about it being too long. The build quality is excellent though. Gutted - another waste of money!

    I agree mate - I wouldn't just let a 12-14 week pup have a go at a half grown rat from cold. I'm sure that you'd agree though that some half grown rats are feistier than others - its just a case of judging the situation! The first rat for any pup would be a really small one - just bigger than a mouse, if possible. They see the rat in a trap first then if they're really keen to get at it then they get an opportunity. If a pup any older than 4-5 months shows no interest to even bay at a rat after a good few go's then it really doesn't bode well. I try to keep my pups as long as possible to

    I get mine to start baying at them in a cage around 12-14 weeks! The eager ones are more than capable of killing a half grown rat at around 14-15 weeks (sometimes even younger). It's a good way of sorting the men from the boys at a very early age. you being serious mate 100% serious - I think that if they're prepared to have a go at a small/young rat at that sort of age then they usually have the attitude for work as adults.     Hi I've snapped the neck of my favourite Spear and Jackson shovel today. The cast snapped where the neck meets the handle so it's going to virtually impossible to repair. Where do you buy the stainless shovels from? How expensive are they and how long do they take to be delivered? Thanks Milgi
