L.Lloyd........Lighten up mate!!!!! Said sorry, enjoy your sport and join in the forum. L.I.G.H.T.E.N. U.P!!!
  2. That last one is brilliant "eying eachother up" perhaps!!
  3. Don't forget the head mate. One thing though,I've found that ferrets that are not used to a carcasses sometimes need some encouragement so maybe cut open to expose flesh if they are a bit slow on the uptake. Same with pheasants and road kill. Next morning check bedding where you will probably find a few rabbit incisor teeth or a pheasants beak! They love it.
  4. My experience... ferret piddle disolves all sealants, soaks into wood, corrodes metal. Tried washing up bowls with side cut off, they poop on the outside of it! ...I once made a tray from an old road sign, difficult to make leakproof with pop rivets alone on corners and I can't weld. i've salvaged a steel drawer from an old filing cabinet at work and cut off one end.... best so far but they still love to poop in the opposite corner of the cage! One thing I will say (previously pointed out by Ditch). If you feed your ferrets plenty of fur, feathers and bones, the poop is almost pleasant to hand
  5. Best of luck.Maybe get to know him a bit first before snogging him off his tractor. Girls like Molly will get ferreters a bad name!!
  6. Be honest and never pretend to know someting you don't. Get them to find answers for themselves and avoid pretending to know all the answers! Chill out as this will rub off on your ferrets and the young farmers.
  7. Got a MK 1 on ebay 3 yrs ago...£65.Has been really good.Simple and basic a a bit like me as I dont want loads of technology just a abit of help when ferrets are down too long. Field craft should always be your best tool!
  8. This is the time of year when the young bunnies are making their presence known. Burrows cannot always be seen because of all the lovely new greenery, so now is when i do my homework and take a walk on all those footpaths across the country and have a good old mooch taking in the summer smells and sights! Then i mark any new warrens or pockets of bunny activity. Detective work starts next, speak to anyone driving a tractor and find out who owns that bunny infested field! "can i assist in collecting the unwanted rabbits as they are ruining your fields" Did this today after spotting a lovely

  11. For the over 40's... what was the one about the knight..".with a shield on his arm and a lance in his hand, for god and for valour he rode through the land."? Followed by "country dancing" practice in black elasticated plymsoles. That's what you call educationMr Blair!!!
  12. Cut off some rabbit meat from the bones (fiddly ). mince up with equal ammount of belly pork, mix with some herbs and fried onions ,form into burgers. lovely...tell the wife and kids it's pork burgers if necessary.Even my townie ,leftie misses said she loved 'em!! That's what it's all about ! Mooster
  13. Did you say how old your ferret is mate?.I've always tried to have puppies in mind when handling mine as youngsters, they are carnivores who live and die by their wits and their teeth so they need to know their own strength and find this out by testing them out occasionally i reckon. If he's been passed on to you because he's been badly treated or not handled from early days you may have bitten off more than you can chew though! Good luck. Mooster.
  14. I always spend some time finding out where the bunnies are breeding the most at this time of year. especially interested after a bit of a poor winter ferreting due to lots of wind and rain. I didn't expect much when i walked some fields this week but was suddenly surprised to see the classis game of"race to the hedge"when i came around the corner on a lovely early spring evening. Loads of rabbits around so even when the natural predators have had their summer feast i'm looking forward to a good winters ferreting next year.Gotta be better than last year! Mooster.
  15. Only albino i'm afraid, but just over the border if you can't find a black eye anywhere.I seem to remember seeing lists of ferret keepers on a ferret website somewhere and that there were some from down the pointy end of the country.Cheers.Mooster.

    MOVING!!

22 years married, know the feeling well mate. Don't give up too quickly though,a bit of compromise works wonders with the creatures from venus in my experience. My mrs absolutelutely hates my ferrets and i absolutely hate fashion accessories! end of story. Best of luck mate. Mooster.
  17. Good luck.Nobody can stop you dreaming of the outdoors. Speedy recovery
  18. Have pm'd you mate. Am I Too late? Cheers Mooster.
  19. Very frustrating!Got to get to the bottom of this.Although it looks too solid to be frog spawn i rekon the boggy looking soil holds a clue or two. Not clear if the stuff is attached to the moss in any way...is it a mineral which has soldified as it oozed from underground rather than something deposited on top? Also were there any stock in the area?...Something dropped by a farm reared animal with an embarrasing "leakage" problem?!It reminds me of wallpaper paste but which appears to have turned clear at one end. Any odour? Cant wait to see how long this takes and thanks for the thread. M
  20. I'm always picking up birds rabbits and squirrels for my lot. They recently turned their noses up at a dead buzzard i found though  ?
  21. I'm in South Devon mate.and my in- laws used to live in Oxford. I used to hate travelling up there because i was always aware of the massive flocks of woodiesin the fields beside the motorway in Wiltshire then the hoards of bunnies in Oxfordshire without a bramble hedge in sight! Service stations always seem to have loads of rabbits and rats i notice. Never mind,i'm not moving to be near the in laws- i'll put up with the thorn hedges down here me thinks!
