  1. Cheers guys, any good greyhound vets in the midlands? Must be. If anyone could Point me in the right direction, Cheers
  2. My saluki x whippets been out of action most of this season with a shoulder injury. It's not obvious how she has done it but seems to be taking a while to heal. It seems to be almost in her armpit on her front leg.. Vet hasn't been a huge help. Have rested her well for 10 weeks, started building her back up, thought she was fit as was running well with my other dog, then first run on a rabbit at the first turn, bang.. Back to square one! Any similar experiences or tips for getting her back to health? Think it's a tendon injury and a pulled pec..
  3. Not bothered what he looks like if he's doing the job, just think there must be something else in him to throw a bit more bulk and hair?
  4. He is a big lad, like I said.
  5. this is a better one of him.. could be puppy fluff maybe, though is 18 months. he hasnt got an obvious double coat, just long in parts...?
  6. couple of pics of him and the wooly coat..
  7. A bit but with a full feathered tail, 27" tts, bout 30kgs and black and tan saluki colour, got plenty of pics, can't work out how to upload via iPhone.. Give me a few mins and I'll put one up
  8. My dog isn't crazy hairy, just on his sides, ankles and chest, probably twice as long as his back.. Can't be pure, I must be a dash of something in there..
  9. Interesting topic lads, got a wooly ''saluki" here and been wondering where his coats come from.. Background to the dig was I got him off a guy at 13 weeks who was getting rid of all his dogs cause if a new job. He said he was a non kc reg saluki from the Blackpool area.. Looked bang like a saluki pup, not fussed about reg. took it on. Proper saluki temperament, makings and feathering as he grew, then at about 12months he started getting fluffy sides, now 18months and still fluffy.. Must be something else in there somewhere, also built like a brick shit house! Not slim like most salukis.. Hunt

frontline for sure - got one ferret that was found wandering in someones garden, covered in ticks, fleas scars - frontlined him and was all good within a few days - just farthered some kits 12 months later - cracking ferret!
  11. Was out and sat for the first time this season, we had a great day but on two digs we had 4 rabbits both times backed up in stop ends, we just kept pulling them out!. this is the most ive come across on a dig. how many have you had?
  12. true true - had a run in with a staff off the lead 2 weeks ago on holiday with my girlfriend - we had our pair on the leads a whippet x saluki and a full saluki pup - the staff went for the saluki pup but i managed to grap it collar before if got a propper bite in, wasnt going to boot it with flip flops on! - the owner was a F***king grade a W****ker - apparently it was our fault.... as you all say - its the owners. he needed a good hiding but im not going to loose any licences over it.. at the end of the day our dogs were ok and this guys always going to be a C**T - not a great start to the h

    Mk3

any luck with this, ive got the same problem with my mk3
  16. thanks for all your comments - he has improved so much over the weekend, back to his old self now - vets did a thyoid test too - its all a big mistery, but the main thing is he is well. just odd how quickly he went down hill and the vets couldnt find a thing! very weird....
  17. thanks all, the good news is he still seems to be getting better slowly - bit more interested in food, hes keeping it down now but still not drinking water - he just seems knackered - not supprising though after what hes been through. he's geting some fluids though very wet food. vets still have no idea, noticed he has started dribbling from his mouth when he's asleep - thats new...????
  18. its odd, he seems to be getting better slowly which is the main thing - he's eating a bit, little and often and he has drunk some meat juice and very watered down milk - still not drinking water though. it just doesnt add up... been a worrying week though here his is looking a bit healthier, a few weeks back!
  19. sorry to hear that mate, thats terrible... am keeping an eye on what shet he does, but there aint much cause he isnt eating much - its a possibilty though - he had a barium meal and they are pretty good at spotting blockages - but htere didnt seem to be anything - wondered if it could be a plant out of the garden, but not liver enzymes were up.. feeding him very small amounts ever couple of hours at the moment, seems to be eating and keeping it down now - hopefully he will start and get a bit stronger though hes not drinking water yet - got a bit of chicken juice down him ok though. cheers for
  20. i know this is a long shot .. but has the dog been stung by something bee ,wasp !! funny you should say that - i asked the vet that, or if it was something simple like toothache! all they can say is they are ruling things out with the tests they have done that came back negative - they even tested for something called addisons disease.. he has just eaten and drank a bit, better than nothing!
  21. might be the way to go - but when the tests dont say anything, it difficult to agrue they might be wrong. its so odd.. cant find anything similar on the net, vets dont know - staying up to keep an eye on him tonight.. will give the vets another grilling tomorrow, and maybe think about another - its worth a shot. cheers mate
  22. maybe im being thick here - maybe it was 60 because he was dehydrated, and its dropped down to a more 'normal' though low level as he has become more hydrated.. i dont know!
  23. sorry i have no idea and it would depend on different factors ,age fittness, weight, and so on ive heard it said at rest somewhere between 25...50 bpm but i wouldnt be sure of that. very true - would male sense, though seems so low - having said that lance armstrong had a resting heartbeat of 32bmp - about half the average human. not saying my dog would win the tour d'france but he'd give it a go if he was well!!
  24. been on the same wormer for a while - and hes mid-way between wormings, but good thought -
