Yeah, I remember years ago trying out some rws superpoints.. I didn't get on with these! I got talked into trying some air arms hunters last time I was in my local gun shop, despite my reservations... To be fair they do seem like a blunt point, which may be a bit better than a true point. But without wanting to open a can of worms about pellet shape.. Any shaped pellet in the right place is going to be fatal at sensible ranges.. Accuracy must be the number one consideration surely

I was given an fn12 by my old man the other week, he had it new about 8 years ago and has only probably put 50 pellets through it. Day to day I shoot a hw100 .177 and a sako .17 hmr for those longer range rabbits. I had a spare slot on my FAC for a .22 air rifle so decided to get the fn12 uprated. True, it's not got the biggest air capacity in the world, by a long stretch! But wanted a truck gun, so never that far away from my bottle. I have been looking at getting a new fac air rifle but can't seem to make my mind up! I thought I had settled on a fairly new rapid 12 mk2 but when I went to see it it was unbelievably long and for me would be impractical for the shooting I do. I understand that barrel length is key to power, which leads me on to my next question. How much power is actually needed? The majority of my shooting will be between 15 and 70 yards. I have taken rabbits to 50 with my hw100 in .177 on a quiet day with time to accurately judge the distance and work out the drop. For longer ranges my .17 hmr does th

Hi there, now I know that this has probably been posted more than a few times before! But I would be interested to hear a few thoughts on the current view of fac air rifles. I've shot air rifles some 20 odd years starting with the classic BSA super sport, then hw97 and later a daystate harrier all in .22, currently shooting a hw100 in.177. Up until about 4 years ago I was pretty up to date with the state of affairs with air guns but ventured into the world of rifles with a lot of my shooting over the last couple of years done with a .17hmr - a sako quad. I've got the old hw100, pre quick fill, so all charging is done via the bottle adapter. Dead easy. Just unscrew your bottle by hand from your gun, slide it out and screw into the bottle adapter attached to you bottle, and fill. Turn off main bottle and unscrew gun bottle. Self bleeding again. Then screw back into gun. Easy!

Thanks for the comments, and great looking dogs cocker. Both the saluki whippet and pure are very wary of strange noises around the house or just outside, not much escapes them! Once they get to know dogs they are much better, both are ok with may mates lurched. They are also a bit better with other running dogs. They particularly dot like collies, terriers, labs or no average pet dogs. The difficulty is finding other random dogs to walk them with. Though we will keep at it.. I do think it's his trust that needs rebuilding. Before the attack he was fine and played with all other dogs. But he h

Following a staffy attack on our saluki about 18 months ago, our saluki has become very aggressive towards other dogs, especially when he is on the lead. Think this stems from the fact he was on the lead when he was attacked. We have tried training classes to resocialise him and it worked with the dogs there, once he got to know the dogs he was fine. He is still as bad with unknown dogs. Any tips? He was just over 12 months when it happened.

Interesting post, have had a similar problem with my pair. Got a saluki whippet bitch that was about 3 when we got a pure saluki dog. Always played rough, than at about 15 months the dog pushed the bitch a bit too far and she took a chunk out of him.. Ok for a while then it happened twice more. Now she's muzzled when playing with him, but all good working together. She's fine with other dogs as long as they are well behaved with her. The dogs got about 10 kgs and 3 " on the bitch, buts she's still the boss! Manages to still put him in his place with a muzzle on!

He's she been running through long grass or crops? Our saluki and saluki whippet both get them . One more than the other. Vet prescribed some antihistamines. No worried, cleared it up quick.

Interesting stuff and thanks for the posts. He's going in on wednesday morning to see a specialist canine cardiologist, £££s so thankfully insured. Hopefully they will shed some light on it, if it's a problem, why grade etc and what it might mean long term. Will update. ALB and thanks for the support.

Cheers for the comments, taking him to a specialist next week. Could just to a huge noisy saluki heart! Let's hope so. No other symptoms. The girlfriends worrying like mad though. Tis her favourite! Will update with any news.

Our 2 year old saluki has just been diagnosed with a heart murmur which seems to have developed in the last 12 months.. Anyone had any similar experiences? The misses is well worried about him.. Noticed his heart beat felt a bit spongy the other night.. Other than that he is a fit healthy dog.. Got him on gentle exercise till he's looked at next week again.
