Re-reading back through this thread gives a VERY dim view of Lurcher Men. It shows that most can not even construct a sentance. All of the threats that are going around also portrays a rediculouse view of Lurcher Men. Grow up folks, most of you are acting pathetic.

i keep odd hours ,and they dont ,the worst thing they could do was inflict pain on me ,how do you think the owner of a shoot would react if the keeper had upset some one that could and would make sure nothing would ever live long enough to be shot year after year ,how long would they keep their job You would get locked up if you were caught in the act and if you kept on repeating. A Keeper can also use a reasonable amount of force to remove the offender. Remember that a Keeper is not going to let you get away with destroying days shooting. and a poacher like me would not give in ,who h

All of the twats have risen from the deep and there are some rediculous posts that have been made about 'if someone shot my dog...' It's all crap, if your dog was chasing and trying to kill a sheep and someone shot it, you deserve it. If someone has a gun (I'm not insinuating that they would use it on you) you would not try and duff them over, it's a load of bollocks. To the post concerning me looking after badgers etc, that's not my thing. I prefer looking after Game. As I have raised previously, I don't mind PROPPER Lurcher Men mooching the fields after a couple of runs but I don't condone i

Not true pal. My interests are in the country side and taking care of it. But it sickens me to see thick prats disrespect the land and quarry that I have looked after!
-
As I HAVE SAID in previous posts, I have no problems with PROPPER Lurcher men who ask permission, shut gates behind them, respect the land and quarry but most of the poachers I have seen/come accross cause trouble.
-
No... It's full of law abiding citizens. It's full of people who work hard for a lively hood and it can get ruined easily by a few persistent poachers breaking things, setting fire to things etc.
-
I'm not a Lurcher man. I'm more into Gun Dogs. I have no problems with Lurcher men aslong as they have permission. But when they start poaching, that's when it needs to be dealt with. Most poachers these days go over the fields in their trucks ruining the crops, recking pens etc. if your not a lurcher man why on here talking shit. IM A GUN MAN YE HE I have came here for a civil discussion abobut poaching. Not to argue with fools.

I know a fair few estates and syndicates that have severly suffered from the damage that poachers have caused and I know a couple of Keepers that have caught them in the act. The irony is that the people that were caught detroying things, hoppers etc all had lurchers with them. the problem nowadays is that lads from towns think that they will get a lurcher, treat it badly and cause a load of shit for Keepers and Farmers!
-
I was bought up to use correct grammar and spelling. But that is besides the point. We're haveing a discussion about poaching, not my up-bring.

Wrong. Every poacher is wrong and should be severely dealt with by the Police. The old fashioned poachers are not as bad as these shell suit wearing morons who trapse around the country side with their shiny trainer shoes on. No one should poach and Keepers should have more power to remove poachers and dispose of the equipment poachers are using.
-
I'm glad they did! They're idiots if they expect to do such thing in such a large number of people and expect not to get caught in a 'hot spot' area. I have no sympathy for them and I have no sympathy for poachers. Hopefully the next time they get caught poaching in such a large number something more seriouse happens to them. I don't mind the old fashioned dog men who go out on a few runs, close the gates behind them and don't trash the place. But most dog men who I see now are in shell suits and trainers mooching the country side destroying it! I have no sympathy at all!

Aye thats right mate....rear a few extra to feed the f**kers, what a clown!!!! Do you know the price to rear up poults? I dont think Mr Hawk has the idea. I don't think Mr Hawk knows a thing about Game Rearing and shooting. As you quite clearly pointed out Lab, the cost of rearing poults is enormous. There are ways of determing birds and I'm afraid anyone who openly advertises that they have or would shoot a bird of prey is a complete cretin!

If it's on your land and you think it's safe enough to shoot then go ahead and shoot the vermin. If it's not, ask permisison off of the land owner and explain about the covey of Grey Partridge. Remind your self of the laws regarding shooting by looking at BASC if you're in doubt.

I prefer to set all of my cages 20 foot apart with all of the doors facing the same way. I've had the debate with people on here before about cages and I would much prefer to use a few lines of rabbit cages than snares.
-
I have access to an estate in Northampton too, there's also alot of decent bits of hazel there. I will have to cut my self a few shanks for some thumb sticks and I think I will need to make some more purse net pegs. You can't beat a propper Old English Woodland with Hazel and hard woods growing in!
-
It's a controversial topic on rabbit cages. I prefer to use a vast number of rabbit cages beaited with carrot (all 20 paces apart with the doors facing the same way).

A week or so, but I believe it's valid as soon as you've joined it.

Keepering is a way of life. Anybody who looks at Keepering as a way to earn money should walk away because the amount of hours a Keeper does, they are on less then the minimum wage. You're on call 24/7 and in all weathers. There are lots of aspects of Keepering and it's very hard work, especially if you breed your own birds. It's a very hard job but it's also very awarding when shoot days go the way they're anticipated. Good luck chap.

Ignore the above, you will loose your licences if you get caught plus it's more hastle then it's worth. My JRT willingly attacks cats if they are in the garden. If the cat isn't intelligent enough to run away and confronts up to it then it deserves a good shock by the dog. Plus, as fair as I'm aware there is nothing that can be done if your dog attacks someone's cat if it's in your garden. Don't quote me on that but as fair as I'm aware that is true. I'm sure someone on here will know. I don't have any problems with cats anymore because of the dog.

How was your first day Keepering chap?

this is direct to Edd_Wiltshire i am not the only one to use this method then you may be the one who has the stupid idea It works and works bloody well. Best done with a 1/2 - 3/4 grown dog who has started after them and an angry ram. I disagree there. That's one thing that should be avoided once you have just got the dog. Imagine it if you were in the dogs situation and that you had just had a bad life previously and been in a dog kennels and then re-homed to a new person who is trying to build strong connections between him and the dog and then the owner puts it into a pen w

Apply to Sparsholt College in Hampshire. The best in the country for Gamekeeping, Vetinary Nursing and Fishery Managment. Employers also look for experienced people who have been to Sparsholt college as it has such a good name and a high quality of students.

I would never EVER grant permission to somebody who I have met over the internet! Notice how the lad in question hasn't posted back yet. I agree though, it's people like this lad who give hunters a bad name! He's probably made another account on here in a different name and is now posting on that other account.
