    I walked in the meadows next to my house this morning,the fields were carpeted with mushrooms,i picked a platefull for breakfast ,and the mrs will go up in a bit to pick a couple of buckets, to make ketchup with.

    well i will have to rive up some hazel and make a few setting sticks sounds about the same as making broaches for thatching. so is garden peat better than soil as its lighter? Its easier to cart about when your setting a few traps,also its texture stops it running under the plate like fine soil will,you can allso put a square of tissue over the plate ,this will make your peat go further still,as Rolfe says ,theres no need to set to fine ,in fact i set mine a little harder so the squeakers can pass,leaving the trap for mam and dad.

    If possible,i try to set well into the holeso the rabbit ,and trap, are less visable,i also cover my traps with garden peat [its easier than riddling soil

    Just picked a few mushrooms,there a bit late this year ,but now their here ,they will crop well in these meadows till october ,then the blueys will take over.

    Listen here lad. I come from a very respectfull and fairly wealthy family ,,would never steal ,, theif,, lie or cheat about anything to anyone. Im not a violent person if i dont need to be,,I can afford to do drugs like coke,,Atleastim not out after anything i can make money of like most crackhead basterds in this country. As for shooting i dont shoot,, i just run me dogs,I dont think the anits could give two shits whether members of the hunting comunity take drugs,,its a personal choice,, i only came on here to ask if other lads or lasses had problems. thanks for your comments everyone.

    We used to shoot rabbits on some very rough ground near Whitwick,[Leics]The old boy who i went with allways tied his hanky to his dogs collar so we knew where it was,also you allways see the yanks with there permits in there caps when out deer hunting,so sometimes a bit of colour in a dog can be an asset.

    I boxed in my teens, and my three lads do now,the object of sparring is to practice ,not to win,if i was you i would question the wisdom of your lads trainers,as it is a bit foolish putting a 16 year old novice in with lads that much older,saying that ,its a good sport ,and good luck to your lad.

    If there was any truth in this tapping on the nose theory, why is it that in Febuary ,and march ,when a ferret will recieve few taps on the shonker off of Mr and Mrs rabbit,why is it that they go back for more, and more and more.

    Handle them often ,feed them,[full rabbits or birds none of that baggrd shite]fresh water, clean bedding,room to grow, thats all it takes,as for tapping them on the nose , a load of tosh, spouted by people who know F A about looking after ferrets in my opinion. everybody has a different way i guess but to state they know F A about keeping fezzers 'cos they tap/flick them when they bite is a bit strong aint it??? i know people who've never raised their hand to anything usually their dogs are not under control or their kids and forget going anywhere near their ferrets As i

    We did it when we were young ,even though there was loads of rabbits in our fields we could not resist the big open field setts on the neighbouring estate,the two most important things for nighttime ferreting ,were ,white ferrets ,and a guts full of shipstones mild.

    We made our large bags of rabbits in febuary ,that when we were allowed on the big estates[after the shooting] .I never did much good in september ,it was to warm and still to many milky does about,the dogs spent half the night coughing and sneezing on belly fur,also it takes months of work for a dog to get in condition to make a good bag. At the time ,the thing that made me push myself and the dogs ,was two young kids ,and no job

    You possibly did it pushing the tealer in Mickey. Was the ground hard?. no badgers or walkers and the ground is firm, but not difficult to push in a tealer,there was a wisp of fur on the wire but no bites,

    Ihad some good bags of rabbits in the 60s and 70s , and there was nowhere near the numbers that there is now,i found that you get bigger bags when the rabbits come off of the field in a steady trickle,as opposed to having loads sitting out all over the place. I dont think one dog on its own ,would catch a 100 ,but 1 dog running out of a pair of dogs might do it ,if so ,you would be looking at a bag of 100 plus. we passed the ton a few times with two dogs and its very hard work.Like Tomo ,the most rabbits ,i have known to be caught by one dog was + ,but in my opinion any dog that can catch t
